Re: Realignment Rumors
Originally posted by bronconick View PostWow, bringing out the post count already. Yeah, UMDBHIK's 3.5 posts per day and my 6.8 posts per day make it impossible for us to do anything else in life. That's a solid 4-7 minutes of work, that might become 5-8 if one knows how to spell. Hell, my browser does it for me.
So your browser is up on the correct spelling of "Knute Rockne"?
...And sure, only 6.8 posts per day OVER THE LAST NINE YEARS!!! LOLLast edited by peten16; 04-22-2011, 02:04 AM.

Re: Realignment Rumors
I heard that Boston College, Alabama-Huntsville, Alaska-Anchorage, UA_, Notre Dame and Mercyhurst are going to create a new conference.
What? This is as credible as any of the other **** that's come out lately.

The chat that spawned the Liberty League rumor:

CandaceH:
One of our staffers has also brought up the interesting tidbit regarding the Empire conference, which will comprise Clarkson, St. Lawrence, RIT, RPI, and Union in other sports. Add Colgate and you have a nice little hockey conference
5:54
Paula Weston:
I would like to see Notre Dame and Miami remain in my beloved CCHA, thank you very much.

Comment From joecct
But - if more BCS schools start playing hockey, what will happen to the little guys??
5:54
Comment From Todd
Thanks joecct.. I haven't talked to anyone who likes what UM and UW are doing with the Big 6
5:54
Chris Lerch:
Liberty League, Candace.
5:55
CandaceH:
Ah. Couldn't remember the exact name. Thanks Chris
5:55
Paula Weston:
What a lot of people don't understand is that the individual Big Ten teams currently playing in the WCHA and CCHA don't have a choice in the matter. The Big Ten has told them that there's a Big Ten league and that's that.
5:55
CandaceH:
there are rumors that both Indiana and Illinois are conisdering hockey
5:55
Comment From blah
empire confrence would be a terrible idea
5:55
Comment From joecct
Candace - I brought that up
5:55
Chris Lerch:
And we're under way in the third period.
5:55
Comment From joecct
Chris - RIT joins the LL next year??
5:56
CandaceH:
Can the Fighting Irish fight back?
5:56
Chris Lerch:
Bad penalty on Notre Dame right off the bat.
5:56
Chris Lerch:
Sheahan again. Fourth penalty. Hitting from behind.
5:56
Comment From blahH
you guys need some help here...ECAC not liberty league. liberty league is D3
5:57
Comment From joecct
but the LL is a D-III league. Don't think it will export to D-I (until they all get booted out of D-I)
5:57
Chris Lerch:
Joe I talked to the LL commish yesterday and he's looking into it.
5:58
CandaceH:
That's not what we are saying. LL is forming for all sports EXCEPT hockey at this point. However, with those five teams having rivalries built, it could make sense to add Colgate and upgrade to DI hockey, especially since it would be a six-team league with an autobid

Edit: Hey, while we're throwing **** on the wall to see what sticks- might as well just throw in the other Patriot League schools with Colgate (Holy Cross, Army... Navy?) and have a Liberty-Patriot Hockey League.

Re: Realignment Rumors
Originally posted by Runninwiththedogs View PostSo, about St. Cloud. If St. Cloud loses its conference affiliation with UND, would your school refuse to play them? I thought St. Cloud's administration was anti-nickname, but am not certain if they have the same ALLEGED stance that UMTC and UW SUPPOSEDLY have but CONVENIENTLY ignore (i.e. UW and UND playing in basketball.)

Re: Realignment Rumors
You guys, these programs aren't being included in DG's made-up conference because they are premier programs.
They're being included because THEY HAVE MONEY.

Originally posted by peten16 View PostMy point is no matter what you label it, they are two of the top programs in CH. And as soon either of them wins a title (and Jackson will very very soon) they meet the subjective criteria set by ecbrevik.
they may be two of the better teams currently, but a `5 year run without any national titles does not a premier team make.
ND winning a title is FAR from an inevitability in the next 5 to 10 years.
