Craddling the Puck on You Stick.....legal?

If we all watched the ESPN NCAA bracket show,we saw the video of the North Dakota player skating up ice while craddling the puck, a la lacrosse....so this is legal? I know that Michigan scored a goal this way years back but it just seems that a rule such as dribbling in b-ball would've been installed to get rid of the practice....I would imagine any player concentrating on doing this would be wide open for getting creamed! Thoughts.....

So long as the stick and puck don't come above the high-sticking boundary, it is perfectly legal.

it should be illegal, I mean, it is impossible to knock the puck off of one's stick when he is performing such a maneuver. the audacity of a guy like Trupp to even try such a thing! he could have killed himself! if anyone tried such a dumb trick I would have thought him Canadian...

Then Willy, how would you knock the puck off without hitting their stick if you're skating along with them?

I dont care for it, however if they want to try it and keep the stick below the crossbar. Any coach with a set will bench a kid who tries it more then a couple of unsuccessful times.

It was effective becuase it generated a buzz for a team that was down at the time. Just trying to give his team a lift. Credit the CC defender for staying with him. I was there and completely lost the puck.

a defender is always allowed to hit the lower portion of an opponent's stick to dislodge the puck or to prevent him from playing it. (stick presses and stick lifts are legal as well.)

Last I checked, only womens hockey didn't allow body checks so that might be one solution.
