The most likely scenario is very little change. The BTHC teams will have their conference, the rest of the teams will probably line up just as they are, except I don't understand why AF isn't in the WCHA, and sharing the Alaska travel pain made sense once but not now when the CCHA is going to have serious money worries.

There is no reason for the eastern conferences to be affected at all.

Big Ten goes to 16 teams (likely candidates to fill the other spots are Kansas, Missouri, Syracuse and Rutgers). Notre Dame can even join for hockey only if they want. Gets the camel's nose under the tent.
The Big 10 does not accept partial members. Will never happen.

It's already the Big Twelve, which is the Big Ten plus at least two others.

UConn would be full member in the expansion to sixteen. They are an up-and-comer in all major sports--football had a BCS bid this year and played at the Big House, men's and women's hoops are always solid, and they hosted a baseball regional last year and are ranked again this year--quality in all three major sports. Hockey gives the rest of the conference a doormat for a while until that program grows. Plus you finally add the East Coast market for the network. UConn is a natural choice for expansion.

Um...not a chance. This is BIG TEN...not Big Ten Plus others. If the Big Ten were to take anyone it would be Notre Dame, but they have stated that Notre Dame has to join in all sports to be in.

And I believe their answer to Miami to join was "No, you're a MAC school." They arent going to let a lesser hockey team, let alone a Big East team in. Sorry, this is a Big 0% Chance of happening. In fact, there is a better chance of Earth getting hit by an asteroid in the next 72 hours than this happening.

None of this makes any sense. These schools aren't going to start programs just because you demand it. If your proposed Ivy and Empire leagues are going to have some kind of "interlock," what is the problem with the way things are right now? The ECAC isn't going to dissolve itself in order to help OTHER schools with the decision to start programs.

And why is there this hard and fast rule that conferences can't go over 12 teams? Who decided this was a thing?

I HATE the idea of the BTHC. I love being in the CCHA and now the rivalry with ND is done for. There's only one B10 team that's any good right now and that's Michigan.

The Ivy league would be horrendous. I wouldnt even give an auto bid to that conference. Also, that would leave you with 9 autobids and would lead to more dumb threads that would come up every year about how your team got screwed.

    Not going to happen.

Also, 2007 was the last time an Ivy League team was not admitted to the tournament. Before that, when? So long as they're getting in from the ECAC, they have no reason to change.
