    OHIO UNIVERSITY A PERECT 10-0-0 AND STILL RANKED #1


    UNION LAKE, MI – For the fourth consecutive ranking, Ohio University is the #1 ranked team in the country receiving 35 out of 45 first-places votes to claim the top spot in the 2012-2013 ACHA Men's Division 1 Ranking #5. The Bobcats swept the University of Arizona at home to remain perfect at 10-0-0 on the season, winning 4-3 on Friday and 4-0 on Saturday. #2 Arizona State, with a perfect 9-0-0 record, received 10 first-place votes and maintained its highest ranking in team history after sweeping Division 2 San Diego State. #3 Adrian vaulted up 3 spots after manhandling previously undefeated Minot State, outscoring the Beavers 14-4 in a pair of wins. The weekend wasn’t a total waste for #4 Minot State, as they scored a pair of 2-1 victories over #5 Oakland, with Friday’s outcome decided in a shootout.

    #6 Oklahoma split a pair of games with #8 Lindenwood, winning 3-0 and losing 5-3, while #7 Robert Morris Illinois and #10 Iowa State also split a pair of games. The Cyclones took Friday’s contest 3-1, while the Eagles rebounded on Saturday with a 6-3 victory. Rounding out the Top 10 was #9 Illinois, which swept a pair of games from Central Oklahoma.

    There were three teams that were able to move up 3 spots in this week’s ranking: #3 Adrian, #20 Eastern Michigan, and #23 Buffalo. The Bulls are one of two teams to appear in the polls for the first time this season, along with #25 Niagara.

    Over the past ten seasons, 8 different schools have won the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship: Lindenwood (2), Illinois (2), Davenport, Delaware, Oakland, Ohio, Penn State, and Rhode Island.

    Beginning its 22nd season of action, there have been a total of 10 schools that have won the ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championship:

    North Dakota State (2 times)
    Davenport
    Delaware
    Iowa State

    55 teams will compete for this year's title. Two teams from last season are now playing NCAA varsity hockey: Penn State University (NCAA DI) and the State University of New York at Canton (NCAA DIII)

    The sixth ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, November 2.

    The 2013 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships will be hosted March 1-6 by Robert Morris University Illinois at The Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, IL. This will be the second year of the 20-team format.

    Adrian will drop a little, I would think, after losing to Davenport 4-3 in OT last night. A game they should not have lost (personal commentary there, from the penalty box). They turned around and ripped Davenport 6-2 tonight.

    As for Minot State, they had a serious case of bus legs by the time the Sunday game against Adrian came around. They were just out of gas, justifiably so.
