It's great to read Watcher's posts and his view on the immediate future of UNH hockey vis vis the reign of Umile.
What I'm seeing is that the programs become themselves: when potential recruits see BC in the finals, when they see the performance of the players, the comportment of the coaches, they want BC.
Where's UNH? If I went to a bank and the loan officer was wearing a sweatshirt, I'd question his attitude toward his job. Umile is still wearing the black turtleneck. Coaching and winning hockey games is a business. Umile should dress for success.
I watched BC win the championship. The players were talented, poised, focused, intent on one thing. These attributes came from the top down. Jerry York. I watch Jerry on the bench, and he's always thinking, analysing, taking notes. Watch Umile, he's usually scowling. Has he ever taken notes? For whom would you rather play?
Umile can not recruit the championship caliber players. He can not assemble a championship quality team. We've all known that for years. Unfortunately, he'll be leaving on his own terms, and we'll suffer until then.

Are you saying UNH hasn't won the NC because the coach doesn't wear a tie and doesn't take notes? Take nothing from Jerry York but a lot of his success comes from the resources he has and where his school is located. Doesn't hurt them that they are a nationally renowned school in the ACC with big time sports, all contributing to his exposure and success. Not to mention that BC's Freshman team's second leading scorer, Hockey East tourney MVP, one man highlight film player would have been playing for tie-less Coach Umile if Admissions had just done their job. Jack Parker to a lesser extent (no ACC) has the same exposure, resources as BC.

I'm shocked that bill would waste that many words, including big words like 'comportment' to say what he always says. I am actually convinced it's the fish on the ice, not Umile's wardrobe.

If UNH didn't have a holier than thou admissions department all of a sudden, the situation they're in could be a lot different. It's embarrassing, really.

Not even worth engaging this blowhard, he is just a bitter, bitter man who has a fascination with other mens clothing. We all know he is just a BC fan in UNH clothing, of course he is wearing a nice jacket and tie at all time. Surprise he isnt blaming the fish on losing again. Once a troll, always a troll

At the beginning of the next to last game against UMass at the Mullins Center, Connor Hardowa was announced as "Chris" Hardowa. Several teammates, lined up at the goal line, burst out laughing.

A hard-working player who leads by example - a logical choice for Captain.

And some guys named LaLeggia and Gaudreau :(

Remember when someone wrote that Gaudreau was definitely going to go to UNH (with visits the BC, BU, and Northeastern the next day) if not for the UNH admissions problems?

I read it on the internet, it must be true!!!

I like the fact that the Fan Favorite Award was named after Frank "the Fan" Halbert. No one I have ever known was a bigger UNHathletics fan than Frank. And a great guy as well.

It doesn't bring the instant "W-T-F?" reaction like last season's schedule did, but 5 home games (including St.Francis) before Halloween, then just 3 more for all of November and December? Strange.

Also, assuming the first Uml game, nov 2 is mass, as there are 4 Uml and 2 umass listed, and that's reversed from this past season...
