Unless the involved parties officially announce that Jordan Masters' verbal commitment to UNH has changed, I will continue to include him as a 2013 UNH Recruit.

RJ Gicewicz gets plucked out from under our nose by St. Lawrence, and we move on D Cam Marks of Vancouver NW Giants for 2014. 5'11 165lbs.

Cam Marks is an offensive defenseman for 2014 - to go along with defensive standout Dylan Chanter, also from British Columbia. More details to follow on http://unhhockeyblog.blogspot.com/

Gicewicz is from Buffalo and has committed to a college in upstate New York. Not sure how this qualifies as "under UNH's nose".

Well excuse me. I was under the impression that he was on UNH's radar (could I be wrong? Yep), and if he wasn't he very well should of been.

Saetia - I wasn't trying to be a wiseazz. I hadn't heard or read that Gicewicz was on UNH's radar. Do you have any info on the level of interest the UNH coaches had in him? For example, did they offer him a scholarship and did he turn it down in favor of St. Lawrence?

I have no sources.. it was something that I thought I had read - maybe I was fictionalizing it while reading positive reports and thinking of possibly having an shot at him with his ex-teammate coming to UNH (teammates when Poturalski committed). To my knowledge, Nichols School does not have a big history of players committing to D-1 (while attending), so UNH kind of had a foot in the door as of late, aside from Malone (Harvard). You'd think that a player like Gicewicz who has recieved some positive buzz didn't go unnoticed by the coaches. Though, I don't scout - just read the articles like most of us.

Marks seems like he could be a sleeper, I am excited to see what he can do in the BCHL next year.

I read up a little bit on Gicewicz and he does look like a solid prospect. Sounds like he is more of a defensive specialist than Marks. I think UNH believes Dylan Chanter will be the bruising d-man for the class of 2018 while Marks will be the offensive defenseman. Depending on whether Knodel and/or Agosta play in their 5th year at UNH, it's possible that there will be too many defenseman on the 2014-15 roster. And we know the problems that can create.
