So do we get hotels in the same area as if it was at the Kohl? And that beer this is a for sure? Cuz I know a few people that will make happy
tUMD is Jan Brady per Brenthoven. Whew.... thanks for clearing THAT up.

    Best USCHO quotes to date:

      Probably yes on the beer.

And there are some hotels on opposite side of John Nolen Drive from the Coliseum.

      BRING BACK PAT RICHTER!!!

At his graduation ceremony from the U of Minnesota, my cousin got a keychain. When asked what UW gave her for graduation, my sister said, "A degree from a University that matters."

Canned music is a pathetic waste of your time.

Fair enough. But still: It sucks, and I don't think it bodes well for the already fading profile of this program on campus.

That's what I was thinking, the games back then were outdoors. The only gym they had back in those days was the Red Gym and I've never heard of any hockey rink in there.

...is there a reason why the hs stuff cannot be held somewhere else in Madison than the KC? I'd have to bet neither tourney will draw as many people as 2 hockey nights at the KC.

This is a pretty nice hotel across the street from the arena.

The WIAA basically said they will move their tournaments if they didn't get their way. They COULD use the field house and the Coliseum for these events but they used their leverage (kind of ****es me off) to keep these at the Kohl Center.

Personally, I'm more upset with the Sunday/Monday thing than the Coliseum although both kind of make me mad. Wisconsin has a couple bye weeks at the start of the season, and they knew the wrestling tournament was scheduled at the Kohl Center that weekend. That's on the UW athletic department.

That said, it seems like the players are having a better response to the St. Cloud series than we are. I know Keegan Meuer tweeted this: "Our final game in the WCHA will be played at the Dane County Coliseum, if I just heard Brian Posick correct on the radio. So jacked for that"

Obviously Keegan is a local and grew up at the Dane so that should be a cool experience for him. Off the record others have mentioned that they are excited to see what it would be like to get the Coliseum rocking.

I would love to see the University do a ticket deal and sell all tickets for like $10 or something and try to fill the thing both nights. The games aren't on the ticket package so I'm concerned about the crowd. St. Cloud is (in my opinion) a top 5 team in the WCHA next season. Wisconsin should be in that group as well. That series could have serious implications at the end of the year, hopefully the can sell that place out, or close.

got it. I haven't read up on this and should have.

I'm mostly bent out of shape about the Sunday/Monday thing and the perception that UW hockey is losing clout in madison overall (a concern that's growing w/this fan).

however the Dane County Coliseum games could be great. especially if kids put up the old banners "Canadian Club" and the like (also, I still don't understand why they won't let the kids do the "goalie, sieve, a gopher on a stick" @ the KC...). might inspire some to hand craft a few to sneak into the kohl. and you're right about Meuer, I bet Andringa's been feeding him some great stories over the years re: games @ the DCC

As a nice little season ticket footnote-in-the-arse, there's a game again this year against the NTDP.

I get that Eaves believes in helping them get better by scheduling them, but there should be a few years in between visits or the ticket price should be about half. I almost never go (the year we won the WJC being the exception) and I don't mind making the "donation" every once in a while, just not every year.

Okay, I'm over it now and will happily transfer some more of my wealth to the UW...

Agree...an exhibition game should not be full price...but then again it is USA hockey so why not have your pocket picked? I guess the upside of Slap Shot series is not having this game on my docket of tickets, but then again a Monday night game probably makes up for that in spades.

On Schultz...I can see the Ducks being ****ed, especially if he ends up following their old GM to Toronto.
