  • 2011-2012 NCAA Week 7 Rankings

For those of you who have been voting previously, here is the thread to post your "ballot" of top-10 teams. If you have never posted before, but would like to, here is where you post your top-10. If you would like your ballot to be counted, make sure to have your top-10 posted in this thread by Monday (Nov 21) by 1pm Eastern.

    Here is my top 10...

    1. Notre Dame - The Irish needed OT to beat Boston College, but they did it. They remain my #1 team in the country as a result.
    2. Merrimack - The Warriors didn't play, and as a result stay in the #2 slot.
    3. Colorado College - The Tigers were impressive in sweeping Wisconsin.
    4. Minnesota Duluth - Another Bulldog sweep, and Duluth is on a roll right now after some early season struggles.
    5. Minnesota - The Gophers have been a bit inconsistent over the past few weeks, but the Gophers are still atop the WCHA standings.
    6. Boston College - The Eagles dropped a tight game to Notre Dame, but should still be seen as one of the best squads in the country.
    7. Ohio State - The Buckeyes sit atop the CCHA standings after a weekend sweep at Michigan this weekend.
    8. Yale - The Bulldogs only played once this weekend, but defeated UCONN. Next weekend features an important non-conference battle against Boston College.
    9. Cornell - Two 4-0 wins over Quinnipiac and Princeton have the Big Red on a four game winning streak, and 5-2-0 on the season.
    10. Ferris State - The Bulldogs went up to Alaska and managed a split. Not extremely impressive, but Alaska is a difficult place to play.

    Honorable Mention:
    Denver
    Nebraska Omaha
    Union
    Michigan Tech
    Boston University

As always, comments are appreciated and please post your top-10s.

How is Duluth ahead of Minnesota when Minnesota swept them on their own ice? Inconsistent, maybe, but you know as well as anyone how hard it is to win on the road in the WCHA. And why is it that CC is so impressive sweeping Wisconsin at home? Shouldn't they sweep Wisconsin at home?

Gophers split with both Bucky and Jan, while the Dogs have not lost since the Gopher series. It's not that much of stretch to put them above the Gophers right now.

Sure, let's all be like the BCS and throw head-to-head out the window. Makes sense to me.

By your logic then, since the Gophers swept a series in Duluth, we should just keep them at the top for the rest of the year. It's a fan poll, not the PWR. Settle down.

How is that my logic? I said nothing of them having to be #1. In fact they shouldn't be. Merrimack should probably be #1 until they get beat.

You can make a good argument either way concerning Duluth and Minnesota, but Duluth has been more impressive over the last couple of weeks than Minnesota, at least in my opinion. As for CC, it wasn't just THAT they swept Wisconsin, it was how they did it. Feel free to post your rankings though, as they all get added up, and my top 10 doesn't get counted any more than anyone else.

Gophers still have a better record, and have played a majority of their games on the road whereas the Dogs have played a majority at home. Considering the Gophers swept the Bulldogs, I'd at least wait until the Bulldogs have the better overall record before moving them ahead of the Gophers in the standings.

I love this. Were you at the games? If you were, there's no way in hell you can honestly think that the gophers should have left Duluth with 4 points. Probably not even 2.
