So this year we are again guaranteed that the Belt will end up in the Hands of the NCAA champs by year end. Has there ever been a case where it did not in recent memory ?.
My research from a few years ago, showed the Belt started with Brown for two years, shortly held by Cornell and at one point by Colby in the mid 70's, eventually landing in DC's, errr UNH's lap, by year end. Unfortunatly, those old posts with that data seem to have disappeared into oblivion.
I lost track of the various Belts in the 70's when they seemed to pop up left, right and center during the Ali - Foreman - Frazier era. While there was the brief Iron Mike consolidation, never really got that "Belt means anything" feeling back.

We weren't aware of any Belt, but if it's been around that long, it conjures images of something scarily Saturday Night Feverish And as long as we'd have had it, it would have been considered outdated

The other myth, or for some a perceived reality, is that "Glorious Moments off the past" tend to become more glamourous and Glorious over time.
Well, It is now reality, because Crazy Dave had one made, and from all the glitter and shine adorning it, it is easily reminiscent of my era - circa Saturday Night Fever fever

Colin Titcomb gets the credit for the belt, I believe.

I stand corrected!
