I hope the team plays a fundamental, sound game in their own end. A tight 5 man defense guarding between the dots with quick, short breakout passing without the D trying to do too much. I understand this is not typically the SLU game but the team has to cut down on opposing team shots in the slot and be more effective getting the puck out of the zone Go Saints!!
Go Saints! Let’s hope the three week layoff helped square away some of our woes. It looks like Sullivan picked us to split the weekend series. That might be a tough task unless we elevate our play and stay out of the box. Go Saints, let’s get in the win column this week.
If St. Lawrence plays like that every night, they'll win more games than they'll lose, that's for sure. First time I'd seen them, and I thought they looked pretty darn good, especially later in the game. Union was very fortunate to get out of Appleton with a win, and SLU was extremely unlucky with the way the puck bounced tonight. Good effort, keep it up.
They played well, the D tightened up and had some very near chances to convert on the pp. The penalty bug struck in the 3rd. Looking for the first W of the season tonight - SLU!
Glad to hear it was a much different SLU team. I expected it would be, so it sounds like it was smart scheduling in hindsight to give the lengthy break.
Tim, I know it is WAY in advance, but how hard should tickets be for the SLU @ UVM game? I get home from the south on Dec 15th, and might hit that game on my way for a roadtrip down to NC to see family.
Disappointing to have yet another loss on the young season, but there were alot of possitives to take away from it. Our defense was very strong, especially compared to the games prior to this one. They continued to look strong on the PP (despite the lack of goals). We skated hard and won many battles along the boards for the puck, which if this continues we will win more than we lose. One area that we desperately need to work on is putting the puck in the back of the net. Many times I noticed we made great passes and were able to skate hard to get open, but we just seemes to play with the puck to much instead of shooting. Also, the shots we did take were right at the goalie with little or no traffic in front and we hardly ever had second and third chances. The offensive aspect of our game clearly needs more work. No better time to right the ship than tonight. Let's Go Saints!
Congrats to the boys on their first win, Wenny on the shut out and to the whole team on an excellent weekend. Nice to see all that hard work paying off. If we can play with that kind of effort week in and week out we can play with anyone.
Nice win boys. Much of the same from Friday night into Saturday night. A tremendous defensive effort from the team all around the board. Boy what a difference a few weeks can make, eh. Finally we were able to bury a couple today. Let's hope we can keep the momentum going as we head to Princeton and Quinnipiac for two tough road games. It's going to be different seeing Bob Prior behind the Princeton bench and not our own. Should be a fun/interesting weekend.
I did see Coach Marsh walking around the arena during intermissions during the Friday night game. Anyone have any new updates on his condition and if it is improving or is everything still the same?
Marsh is feeling better but said he wouldn't return until he was 100 percent. He didn't set a timetable for his return. Personally, and this is pure speculation on my part, I project a second-semester return. He'll let the team stay as-is through the December break and come back in January.
Here is the story I did for this week. The bit about Marsh is at the end:

I actually read most of this, but my ADD kept me from finishing the article. So, I guess this answers my question. Thank you SLUwriter. This is good news indeed!
