  • You Don't Get A Second Chance To Make A First Impression - Lakehead at MTU, Sat. 10/1

    Wow. It's already here.

The first game, albeit unofficial, of the Mel Pearson era.

There is only one word that needs to be said here. And it's so important I'm going to say it a few dozen times.

Yessir. Looking forward to seeing who skates with who, and how hard, and how jumpy/vocal the new coaches are. Also tonight: Meet the Coaches at the Begg.
Huskies are very intelligent and trainable. Huskies make an excellent jogging companion, as long as it is not too hot. Grooming is minimal; bathing is normally unnecessary.

time to see if the video streaming really isn't just a bag of poo this year to...
MTU Hockey fan since I was carried to a game in 1986 - for those counting... that's a lot of depressing hockey. Still love it.

Lakehead finished third in the competitive OUA West Division last year, with a 16-9-3 record, and averaged 4.18 goals for per game, good enough for 3rd overall in the CIS. On the other side of the ice, they allowed almost 3 goals per game, placing them in the middle of the pack.

The CIS apparently doesn't keep track of players' academic years, so I can't tell who graduated. Someone who will physically be in attendance can do the legwork to see if anyone is an NCAA reject like Mark Heatley was.

Lakehead underachieved a bit last season. Lost some home games against teams they shouldn't have. Look for their offence to probaby go through Jadran Beljo or Matt Caria.

Mike Hammond seems to be the Thunderwolf to watch. The freshman put up five points in Lakehead's victory last weekend against UQTR. He played in the BCHL previously, and led his teams in scoring each of the past two years. In 2008–09, he and Tyler Gubb were teammates with the Victoria Grizzlies.
