Game day, starting to get nervous...

Go Blue!

After the Air Force debacle a few years ago I take no one lightly but I think Denver takes out Ferris, and pretty easily too. A buddy of mine from Minnesota says that DU is very streaky but when they are on they can beat anyone.

That being said, I don't want to play Ferris again. Even though we had our way with them early this season, it's very unlikely to beat a team 3 straight times in a season.

I guess I, as well as the team, should have been more concerned with Cornell...

What a brutal loss. I thought that UM was going to go all the way to the championship game.

I hope that this wasn't Shawn Hunwick's last hockey game, either. He deserves a shot at the pro level.

I'm guessing not to many UM fans watched Cornell's postgame press conference, but Coach Schafer went out of his way to compliment Hunwick, not only for his play, but also because after the game he brought the game-winning puck over to one of the Cornell coaches. That's an incredibly classy move amidst what must have been gut-wrenching emotion - a fantastic display of sportsmanship. Best of luck to Huwick, whatever his future endeavors may be.

Good to see at least one Michigan rep has class, he makes up for the rest......great Frozen 4 this year, no Michigan or Michigan State

That's funny because I know a whole group of Michigan fans on this site as well as the Michigan hockey family giving Cornell their due.

The only one demonstrating classlessness is YOU.

Very competitive game yesterday! I was at Green Bay and was surprised by the number of Michigan fans that showed up. Although the regional was closer to you guys than us, I was impressed with the turnout at this remote part of the country.

On the other hand, Hunwick was definitely the star player for Michigan and an incredibly classy guy. I'm sure the Lynah Faithful will join me in wishing him the best of luck in his future career.

IMHO Shawn will play in Europe. As we have all seen, he has the heart, the skill, and the ability to be a top-notch goaie. However, the NHL is a business and they like their goalies big. He "might" get an AHL try-out but I don't think he every plays in a NHL game. Too bad, he's made great progress this year. Unfortunately, something he can't control (his size) is going to be holding him back.

Of course I don't know Shawn, I know Matt but not Shawn. Shawn may decide that "OK, this is it. I'm done." He may get his Masters degree (I'm not even sure what it is that he is studying) and move onto a professional career?

This was a perplexing team... One of those can beat anyone, but can be beat....

I thought there wre some issues a month ago when thr Wholberg/Brown/Guptil line slowes down scoring, and started to struggle on D. The rest of the team made up for it on more nights than not, but with that line struggling... I had hoped to see them in Tampa, but also never thought of the team as #2 overall.

Hunwick did his best ot carry the team, but getting behind and not scoring much really put strain on the team.

And we are left with "there's always next year."

Sorry, but I couldn't help myself from asking;
When will you be posting video of them leaving?

What hole on the golf course are your guys on? You've been done for a while now, do you have any balls left?

Trying to forget it isn't any better. You are so next year you even started a new therad.

Rational people can still discuss this year.

Tough ending once again for your season, but the rest of the college hockey world wished we'd have 22 straight opportunities. And from what I gather an extremely classy gesture out of Hunwick making sure the kid who scored that goal got the puck. I'm sure Michigan fans must be bummed to see his career end.

Finally have a free moment.

I was at the game. Turning point was, without question, the disallowed goal. Cornell was in shock and took a time-out, Michigan was juiced and skating around them like traffic cones. When they took off the goal, it was like Cornell had just scored one of their own. Their PP goal came on an otherwise sparking PK on an incredible shot right in front of me, and the SHG got an assist from the linesman.

The officiating was sponsored by the CCHA, which wanted to remind everyone on this thread that the CCHA doesn't have the only bad refs in the country. They all stink.

There were definitely some PP issues but there were also a lot of good chances that were stopped. I don't think some of the deflected shots in front really got their due on tv, from what I heard from the commentary. Some of them coulda-woulda-shoulda tied it. Didn't, though, and Cornell got to trap in the third, which especially after 10 minutes really frustrated Michigan's transition game, whose goal was to dump-and-chase and could never get the dump. This was Cornell's ideal game--keep it tight and play the percentages. They got the one at the end that mattered.

My feelings on this game are very, very mixed; on the one hand there has rarely been a clearer, easier path to a national championship game, and Michigan blew it; on the other hand, I took my 6 and 4 year old daughters to their first every Michigan game with my wife. They sang "The Victors," Yelled "Go Blue," cheered when Michigan scored, ate popcorn, and had a blast. Priceless memories that will last forever. I love Michigan hockey, but there are a few things that are more important, and if I had a pick between "stay home and Michigan wins," and "go and Michigan loses," I make the same choice again.

First choice was "go, watch Michigan win, and then see them win a national title on television." It was not to be. Part of being a Michigan fan is that there are a lot of "next years." And part of it is that all of these "this years" at least have a shot, because we have not missed the tournament in many years. Remember, we looked like we wouldn't even get to round 1 in November.

Parting thought: I've completed my evaluation of Jon Merrill. He is Jeff Jillson.

Yes I do. Would you mind washing them?
