Not a big surprise. Now hopefully we have a healthier year!
MTU Hockey fan since I was carried to a game in 1986 - for those counting... that's a lot of depressing hockey. Still love it.

Surrounded by Badger Red in Wisconsin. Such an ugly color, but the beer and cheese are delicious...

I think it is a fine nickname. I am still amazed that the Houghton-Hancock area has one.

Next time I am there I am going to ask for one "Applebee".

I figured we could be in for some cuts. I expect they will come sometime next month?

There could be a surprise or two in the pool of cuts, it all depends on their skills and how much they prove they want to play for Pearson & Co.

Motivation to perform. I can't say I'm complaining about the move, if no one breaks during the year.

Well, yes. Yes we do. We've got $3.25 20 oz long islands. I expect you to visit me during the career fair.

Part of it may be motiviation to perform, the other part may be that there is a point where there is too many players to form a cohesive team.

**** that. I'm not going to Houghton to eat at Applebees. Pilgrim River, Quincy's, Library, DT(wings Thursday night), Ambo will be where we go for dinner. When I don't have to pay for food its prime rib, lobster pizza and other pricey foods not an orange chicken bowl and brewtus of miller lite.

Mel is very personable and worked the crowd. the players also mingled more. I think Brett Olson hit every table to say hello or to introduce himself. good turnout. Mel said he is here to stay. he and his wife (who seems very happy to be here) have bought a house. he is definitely the man in charge - the players call him "sir". saw a few faces that hadn't been around for awhile, that is good. Bill Muckalt is more or less the bomb - he's going to bring alot to the team, I think. Damon was his usual smiling happy self. all three coaches said they had had very busy summers ... but seemed happy with that.

huskyfan's new favorite player - Daniel Sova - because he is just so d^mn cute!!

I like it. I know it might sound like an ego-trip or whatever, but the necessary discipline starts with that high level of respect. One of the little things that needed changing.
Huskies are very intelligent and trainable. Huskies make an excellent jogging companion, as long as it is not too hot. Grooming is minimal; bathing is normally unnecessary.

It's no ego trip for 19 yr olds to refer to the 53 yr old (or what ever the age is) boss as sir. Good discipline as you said. I'm looking forward to having fans in the seats. Especially students. I think it would be great if a bunch of badger fans drove up for week 2 and then couldn't get tickets. I'm not sure we are quite there yet, but some enthusiasm in the stands will help the team out a lot.

In his first press conference he commented that one of the things he learned from Red is to treat the players as professionals; this obviously works both ways. As I alluded to prior to training camp, the players were going to be in for a change (possibly shocking to some) regarding attitude, respect etc; this is starting to show.

I would imagine a fair amount of players are walking on pins and needles as well as they realize 5 will be departing.
