Jason Zucker is getting all the preseason hype and he certainly deserves the attention. He makes plays and scores goals that are nothing short of jaw dropping. He has a fiery presence on the ice. 23 goals and 22 assists 7 game winning goals as a freshman.
But lest we forget, JZ finished 2nd in scoring behind sophomore Drew Shore. 23 goals 23 assists 8 Power Play goals. Drew had a breakout year. His work ethic was unquestioned. He made the plays and scored the goals. He'll be wearing a "C" this year so you know he has the leadership gene as well.

IMHO, they are both top players!
They are definitely both top players, but IMO, Shore showed close to his peak potential last year. He might be able to put up another 6-8 points, but Zucker was only a freshman last year. I could see him put up an additional 15-20 points this year. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see him put up 65-70 points this year.
Also, I think Beau Bennett will have a breakout year. He was banged up quite a bit last season, and if he can stay healthy, I see him being a 20-20-40 type guy...similar to what Shore did as a sophomore.

You may be right about Drew, but I hope he proves you wrong. Can't expect him to more than double his points as he did last year, but getting up to 60 points would be really nice. Zucker is certainly explosive enough to hit the 65-70 mark. Anticipate he will miss a couple of games for the WJC tournament, just as he and Drew did last year.
Bennett had 25 points last year and 40 plus is a "reasonable" expectation. Don't forget Nick Shore--18 points in 33 games (broken wrist). Now if he steps up the way Drew did last year--that could easily be 30-40..
Here's the question of the day--Drew and Nick Shore are pretty well set to center the top 2 lines. Who centers the 3rd and 4th lines? Any guesses as to the line combinations. I assume we will be seeing a lot of rookies on the ice?
Hate to hear that, but does this mean he gets NHL pay because he was at the Islanders camp? I'm sure Rhett would rather play, but that could be the silver lining on the dark preseason injury cloud.
Hope Donovan has a good night.
Bozak will probably pay Saturday, but Friday was still in question even though he would be centering Kessel and Lupul.

He was in an NHL training camp under a 2-way contract to the Isles when he was hurt. He is now on the NHL IR. When the regular season starts he should be drawing an NHL salary. Like all the other players in camp he is receiving the training camp per diem until the season starts.
DU fans, will you be at the game Saturday night against McGill University?
World Arena North (aka Magness Arena on the campus of Denver State University) where the Colorado College Tigers are 17-11-5 all time against the Metro State Pioneers. Thank you Denver Roadrunners for building a second home for CC!!
Guys, come up and say hi to me, I'll be easy to find, the one and only fan wearing a CC jersey with black CC cap. And since I'll be cheering for McGill to put a five spot on Murray I'll buy you both a beer! I think I met Duper before, but if I did it was many years ago.
Go Tigers!
