Well, I'm going to do a farewell tour of upstate New York, hellholes like Plattsburgh. Fred Armisen as Gov. Paterson

Maybe this is Roll's opening to get back into D-III hockey?

That's what we're thinking at the house. Perfect opportunity. His son play in Brockville (CHL), so they're not too far away and Hamilton is closer to a major metropolis than what Potsdam was.
Wherever he ends up, I wish him good luck. I just think he is a better D-III coach than a D-I coach.
I knew Norm and his family away from college and hockey (coaches and profs do have lives, too, you know). He seemed to be a great guy and best wishes to him and his family.

I would have to say that Roll would be a front runner, not often that a coach with NCAA championship is available.
I doubt Heenan will leave Utica, however all of his assistants have done very well, Matt Lindsey at Princeton, Dennis Williams at BG, Alex Todd at Castleton, Dominick Dawes at Neumann, Jason Lefevre at Colgate. I would think these people would all be in the mix as well. The job was open 3 years ago and I think they wanted Mark Taylor from Hobart maybe they will take a run at him again.
No but he's been to one as a coach, and I don't remember 3rdliner actually using the word won an NCAA Championship as a coach and maybe he meant that he won an NCAA Div. 1 Championship as a player at Bowling Green under Jerry York.

seems to me Hamilton just went down the D1 road and it turned out to be a short term solution. Granted Norm did a great job, but it will be interesting to see what the administration thinks about D1 vs D3 this time around. at a school like Hamilton, or any other NESCAC for that matter, D1 does not necessarily = better. they are not only looking for a winner, but also someone that will mesh with the college and local communities and stick around for a while.
at the end of the day, Roll is unemployed. the others are not. that may work against him. these other guys want Hamilton because of the career opportunity and because they are hungry. Roll just needs a job, be it at Hamilton or elsewhere. think he'd be applying for this position if he were going back to Clarkson next year?
Dawes might consider this as they make no money at NU. Hard to live on 40K a year
George Roll.
Was just relieved of duties at Clarkson and he is a former Oswego State coach. Led them to the 2003 national championship game before losing 2-1 to Norwich.
He helped orchestrate the resurgence of OSU hockey in the late 90's to the time when he left for Clarkson.
