The reason for the talent in the west? Because MN didn't rely on Canada.

Soooo, if the NCAA says they'll issue sanctions but the ND legislature is forcing the University to continue to use the logo, does that mean that the legislature is willing to put up money for any sanctions against UND?

maybe UND ought to stop playing in NCAA sanctioned tournaents and stop making money for the NCAA...Maybe John Galt can convince the successful program to go on strike until the collective-minded do gooders figure out which side their bread is buttered on.

I wonder what would happen if enough schools decided to form their own Association and stop paying into the NCAA

Regardless of what you all may think of the NCAA; it is an association of voluntary membership. If UND doesn't want to be part of it they should resign from it. If they do want to be a part of it then they either need to abide by it's rulings or begin litigation in court to show why the NCAA doesn't have the power to strip them of their hostile and abusive nickname/logo.

Note here ... it was a plethora of legal opinions, cost and reticence to litigate that brought UND to come to an agreement with the NCAA which it will be violating by continuing to use this name.

Simply choosing to ignore the agreement that they made with the NCAA will not be the end of this. The NCAA will likely apply some sanctions at this point. Hopefully, it all ends up in court. The legalities haven't changed just because the ND legislature has decided that the squeaky wheels in their email boxes must be appeased.

Bottom line: GTFO of the NCAA if you don't like it's rules.

they should probably just join a Canadian hockey league. the coaching staff and most of the players would feel right at home.
