reminds me of 2 seasons ago when Fritsch played for the Flyers before JVR did (if memory serves correctly)

Maybe Campanale can take Kessel's slot on the Islanders/Sound Tigers for a year while Blake captains the 2012 Wildcats.

Not me. Absolutely solid defenseman but I never thought he'd be in the NHL. I'm glad I was wrong.

I honestly don't know. I think the players choose their captain primarily based on stuff we fans aren't privy to - what goes on in the locker room and during practices. On the ice, Kessel seems to enjoy himself, is hard on himself when he doesn't accomplish what he intended, and talks regularly with his teammates. I don't know if his teammates want him as their leader.

It doesn't matter much to me whether Kessel is the captain, assistant captain, or neither (Thompson and DeSimone had pretty good years without being either) - I just would like him to play one more season for UNH. I can't think of any downside to that.

My prediction, for what its worth:
Kessel (C) *if he returns for his SR year
                        Moses (A)

Kessel is too outspoken and passionate not to be the captain.
                        Bobby Butler for Hobey 2010
                        Paul Thompson for Hobey 2011
                        Stevie Moses for Hobey 2012

Initial Reactions to Camps playing in the NHL:

It seems like the Islanders are fishing for Kessel and using Campanale as bait.
Tonight he obviously had some nerves, and was a bit timid. Overall not an awful debut.
Started getting some serious minutes until he got that penalty. At least he separated Hornton from the puck
Wonder if he'll make the line-up against JVR.

Yeah, I thought that he did ok, 8:21 mins, even on the +/-.

Was flipping back and forth between Bruins - Isles and Blues - Black Hawks games, where after being up 2-0, Ty Conklin lost 4-3 in OT after making 35 saves.

And, had to listen to that after-goal theme song four times that Merrimack also hi-jacked.
