I live in Dickinson. I've already seen green this spring. It isn't that hard to find. And the badlands are spectacular. If you like the outdoors, this is actually a great place to live.

Though dirty is right in a way, from the outside it looks dumpy especially in the winter. Course Grand Forks is dumpy too, just not as dumpy.
I wouldn't trade North Dakota summers for any other summer anywhere. I've lived lots of places all over the US, and have yet to find a place with better summers.

Here's how I see the people you have:

Eades, Larson, Guentzel, Gibbons, Pooley & Cole: would be strong candidates, but do they want the job?
Carlson, Hartzell, Montgomery, Patrick, Rud: their teams are still in the USHL playoff, would have to wait unti they are done for on campus interviews. Of these, I think Rud and Patrick are the strongest candidates.
Rolston has no interest in coming back to Houghton.
I think Coghlin would be good if he is interested, especially if he can bring along Mazzoleni as an assistant.
Serratorre: is he interested, and can he get out of his AFA contract? Is Tech willing to buy him out at Air Force?
Markell: has very likely applied and he does believe he could win at Tech.

I think you have them pretty much nailed.

I also see the Penn State situation also as a bit of a Wild Card. If Sandelin goes to Penn State, it is likely that Larson either goes along or moves up to the top spot in Duluth. Rohlik would also be a top candidate in Duluth.

I certainly can't see any Anastos type, outta left field candidates here.

I agree with that...Larson and Rohlik would be the top of UMD's list if Sandelin runs off to the B1G Mistake Conference.

Sounds like Penn State is cheap even after they received $88 mil?

To be fair, the $88 mil wasn't given to penn state to go drop $300k+ on a coach. They can get a perfectly capable coach for $150-200k/year. Michigan Tech is in a different position, trying to stay relevant in this sea of change. Penn State has their place...more than likely their first coach will not succeed anyway because of the wonderful B1G Mistake competition they will have to deal with.

Again, to be fair, parading the trophy around the last few times the Sioux have won Big Jim's Cup hasn't worked either...can't really fault them for trying something different.

PennState simply said they won't pay "outrageous money." There is a big difference between that and being "cheap."

Why do people think that Frank Serretore wants to leave the AFA? I know that he would be a great coach at most schools, but after he was relieved of duty at DU, why leave some place that is happy as a pig in slop with his results but doesn't hang a NC over his head. Plus, leave Colorado Spings for ??? I would say that if MN came knocking on his door, there "might" be a slight chance, but I don't see him leaving until he's ready to retire.

Also, should Brian Renfrew from Michigan State be on the list? Just curious...

nobody thinks that. This is just a list of coaches who have been mentioned that Tech might make an offer to, like they did w/ Pearson.
Huskies are very intelligent and trainable. Huskies make an excellent jogging companion, as long as it is not too hot. Grooming is minimal; bathing is normally unnecessary.
