This schedule looks way better for our SOS ranking. Interesting start to the year in Omaha and then Miami-Ohio coming in to Hamilton. Also like the trip to Ferris St. after Christmas.
      The season opens in NEBRASKA!

Who'd a thunk it would be Michigan vs. Minn-Duluth in the final? Anyone watch the Frozen Four semis? It shows what a stout defense and good goaltending can do to a great opponent (UND). Next year with Mihalik in goal and a veteran D maybe we can pull a "Michigan" and shut out some teams. Making the most of your offensive opportunities and playing good D will win big games

Congrats to UMD...was pulling for those underdog bulldogs ;-)

Agree with the defense comment. A power play may win games (Union) but defense, more often than not, wins the crown.

Special thanks to Coach Vaughan for sending letters to my class from all of the players, including hats, pucks, and a stunning Raiders jersey!!!

Congrats to Minn-Duluth. Nice win. As the cutain falls on another season, I wish all posters a happy & healthy summer. Look forward to Shabby's thread in August/September and starting a new season in October.

Some big news over the last few days in the ECAC. Yesterday Roll was fired at Clarkson after 3 losing seasons. Who would you suspect they are looking to bring in? In addition Union's sophomore stud goalie takes off for the NHL. That's a tough spot to fill late for sure.

Wouldn't it be great if Clarkson looked to Asst. Coach, Greg Dreschel, Colgate grad as the "go to guy!"

I believe Dreschel was also released, along with Coach Roll. http://www.uscho.com/2011/04/18/clar...ved-of-duties/

Rumor...Not sure of the validity. New rink put out to bid with less money than the 40 million to several architects. Guess they're having trouble raising the original.
It all starts with the goaltending.

Good news and bad, I suppose, Shabby. Hope we don't wind up with a half bad facility just because some deep pocket alums (Silver Puck) won't fork over the dimes. Need to get the Pres. fully behind this, (especially with Miami coming in next year) if he's not already. Keep the academics out of it.

Now that Leaman's gone from Union, I wouldn't expect a cupcake in the Dutchmen. They are still loaded and have another great coach. Appert staying at RPI is a surprise to me, but hear he signed a long-term contract.

                          Back to fishing.

Larkin made and played on the Italian team that won the IIHF World Championships. Congrats ! Good experience.

Leaman had a long term contract (until 2017), but left; he had signed the extension last year. I'm sure there were plenty of coaches around the country that received raises or extensions in order to ensure that they'd stay. At least you guys have a good long-term stronghold in the form of Coach Vaughan, so I'm sure you guys will be alright. His teams always seem quite competitive.

                                Enjoy the fishing.
