Congrats again Timmy. May UVM's highly touted incoming class be just as good or better than the freshman class of 1993.Plattsburgh '11 Go Cards.

Good to hear, that is a pretty high pick, he has a lot of potential. He and Brickley, and Girgensons if he can matriculate this fall academically, will make them a better team than last year- plus they have some other interesting players coming in also

“It’s a big step,” Paliotta said of developing into an NHL player. “Hopefully within the next two or three years I can make that step. I hope to be a Blackhawk soon.”

It looks like Zemgus Girgensons will not be playing for UVM this fall, he is now scheduled to arrive for the 2012-2013 season:
http://blogs.burlingtonfreepress.com...delays-a-year/
The forward, a native of Latvia, was originally scheduled to attend UVM in 2012. H then tried to complete an accelerated academic course to become a Catamount a year early, but jamming two-plus years of school into one was a little too much, especially in two languages.

A little while back the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL drafted Zemgus Girgensons with their first selection (45th overall), they are trying to recruit him, so let's hope he sticks to the college route and not Major Junior.

Re: Vermont : Let the offseason begin...2011
Bummer about Girgensons not matriculating this year. His numbers were not as good with Dubique this year as we might have expected for a projected first round NHL draft pick so another year with Dubique is probably not a bad thing. However, on the flip side, I would have rather had him an extra year. You have to figure if he had arrived this fall he would have played at least two years and possibly a third year. Now it becomes more likely that he will be one and done, or two best case before moving on - if he performs to early NHL draft prognostications.
He would have been a top 3 forward most likely so this hurts the 2011/2012 season and reduces forward depth a bit. Hopefully the balance of the freshman class and some improvement across the roster will create some more offense and better team D this coming season. go cats
