Amazingggg, F2B&G! I can see someone used to write for the Daily Bull... and if not, then I can see someone who definitely SHOULD HAVE written for the Daily Bull!

Well, it's being received a little better than I had thought.

I actually used to be the snarky, self-deprecating type (I also wrote for tBull for a while.) Then I ran dry of material there, and Tech went down the tubes in 2008 and I started getting stressed out as I hit the real world and the anger just spewed forth.

Now I'm just so beaten down with this team that even the anger isn't there.

The thread seems a bit light on the ensuing drama, although the not winning is well-established. I guess I'm not going to add much drama. I'll take whatever we get on the coaching side, and hope it really was injuries and youth. I'm still pretty impressed by the attitude of the team. I kept waiting for the frustration to take over in that 11-2 beating, but the team just kept plugging away shift after shift. Nothing got out of control, but it wasn't apathy either. And the loss Saturday was still a loss, but to play a game that close with UND after getting beat by a combined 23-3 score in the previous 3 games shows character. Granted that character isn't sufficient for future success, but it's a required element among other things.

Hey, look on the bright side, you have another team to root for now!

"According to NCAA, the (UAF) hockey team used ineligible players in every game played from the 2007-08 season to the 2010-11 season. Over that span, the wins and ties will all become losses. 4 wins and 2 ties came against rival UAA".

              UAF is 56-86-12 vs. UAA.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

The discussion about the 'Piano Dog' logo in an older thread inspired some off-the-wall thoughts:

I'll go out on a limb here and suspend disbelief that the Tech Adminstration will commit to a resuscitation/revitalization/rebirth of the hockey program with the goal of becoming more competitive and, most importantly, generating more enthusiam and support from the fans/alumni. If that happens, and that 'if' is as big as the recent tsunami, then I propose the changes be publicized in a marketing campaign built around some minor modifications to the 'Piano Dog' logo.

All campaigns have to have a slogan and I'm suggesting something like, 'The Dog Bites Back,' or 'We're putting teeth back in the Huskey.' I'm sure y'all can do better, so let's hear your ideas!

I'm visualizing a new logo that will be similar to the existing except for two significant changes. First, the dog gets sharp teeth that feature an outsized canine 'fang'. Perhaps the mouth could be a little out of proportion to the head just to emphasize the teeth. Second, the piano keyboard on the back of the head is replaced with windswept hair to give the illusion of speed. A successful design will give the first impression of a mean dog sprinting to rip the leg off an opponent.

One benefit of the logo change is profit from increased sales of new logo merchandise. Perhaps a cheesy way to make money but the pro sports teams do it all the time and it's expected there. As long as funding is needed to help finance the changes, what better way to collect?

Some time around '08. Just ran dry of ideas and got busy with classes/job hunt/the real world. Figured it was better to let it die with dignity than force it if it wasn't there.

The Univ can feel free to modify any of the following for their use and I'm on board with it. Your can order me a home, road and alt jersey right now. In no way shape or form do I want a "happy husky" (see U-Conn).

Just be sure to "modify" significantly. Anything resembling an existing logo will result in a lawsuit. And if we modify a logo from a hockey school, that lawsuit might include defamation based on recent hockey performance.

The Pipeline, an Edmonton hockey radio show, talked with USCHO's Dave Starman on Saturday morning. When they started talking about recent coaching moves, one of the hosts said, "We're hearing that Michigan Tech will be looking for a coach after the season."

Just another rumor, so take it for what it's worth.
