Do you think it's a coincidence that BU decided to upgrade their athletic facilities in the form of gorgeous new multi-million dollar Agganis Arena while Matthews still suffices for the size of the Northeastern hockey program?

It was good enough to beat BU with a squad of only one regular starter in his career. Congratulations on a possible America East Championship. Playing UNH and Maine is just so darn tough. They are right up there with ODU, VCU and George Mason.

But I suppose we bought that one since we upgraded our arena and that helped lead to an increase in recruiting because there were extra phone lines wired into Parker's office.
LOL, thumping my chest and getting excited. Really? It was a small comment replying to someone who keeps beating to death the throwing food incident and that we happened to blow our early home games to a weak conference. If that's really how you interpreted it, then sucks we can't hear each other over the Internet.

Dude, Cronin is lightning fast with those fingers on those dials. He'll have a message about another Beanpot loss out in record time.

You're furthering the irrelevancy of your argument. BU has spent more on their program, as did Wisconsin, because they MADE more money. BU is one of the top 100 revenue generating athletic programs in the country, with hockey being the main driver. What do you expect them to do, sit on the money and do nothing? It's not BU's fault that they generated enough revenue to be able to reinvest that money back into the program. That's not buying championships, that's called smart business.

To your point, Wisconsin put in about $22 million dollars into their football program, MSU put in $7.1 million. However, Wisconsin generated three times the ticket revenue, and got TEN times the contributions from fans and boosters that MSU did, among other categories. Wisconsin's program generated $34.1 million, MSU's generated $9.7 million.

As posted in a thread long ago on here, in 2007 NU's hockey program generated revenue of 1,236,383. In the same year, BU's revenue was 4,136,864. That's through ticket sales, merchandise sales, donations, everything, not paying players to come here, or anything like that. While BU does have great facilities, they are not even the best in the country, and the team with the best ones hasn't won a title since 2000! What are they doing wrong???

You mean the basketball team that beat yours this year? You mean the basketball team that plays in the same conference as a top 25 team (George Mason)? You mean the basketball team that competes in a conference that will potentially earn 3 bids to the NCAA tournament this year?

Let's not brag about BU basketball until they move from a conference that sends 1 team each year to the slaughter which is always the 15 or 14 seed.

If you read the post, there was no mention of BU basketball just asking where your resources went with your 11-20(6-12) basketball team which is apparently in the next coming of the Big East in your opinion. The answer would be (12-14-8)hockey is the biggest sport at your school just as it is at BU just doesn't have the hardware to back it up. Not our fault because we have more history and make more money than you with our athletics. You don't buy championships though good effort.

P.S. You beat us by 2 at home in November...congratulations that win must be getting you an at-large bid come sunday.

I'm confused you say that NU's lack of available resources is the issue holding NU back and yet in the above earlier post you disagree with resources being an advantage for BU????? Do you waffle this much in every debate that you have???

                              1. George Mason squeaked into the Top 25 in the last poll of the season, then promptly lost and would fall out if there were rankings this week. This is not something to boast about.

                              2. There will not be 3 bids from the CAA, VCU has no shot at an at-large.

                              3. What has Northeastern accomplished in the CAA? Nothing. Jumping on the backs of other team's accomplishments doesn't make your own any better. Outside of George Mason's run in 2006, the CAA has largely been a one bid conference, save a year here and there. Their teams have won an upset game a couple of times, but none other than Mason advanced beyond the second round. This does not make the CAA anything more than a low mid-major conference in a good year, and more likely a higher level one-bid conference.

                              4. Northeastern joined the CAA in 2005. BU was extended an invitation to join the CAA along with Northeastern, they declined. Rightly or wrongly, the rationale was they did not want to increase travel costs in a mainly southern league, and were holding out for a potential invite to the A-10, which likely is not going to come.

                              5. Ask a Syracuse fan if an America East team has won any NCAA tournament games recently.

                              6. As this site: http://ope.ed.gov/athletics will show you, BU's basketball revenue for 2009-10 was: $1,929,181 and Northeastern's (wasn't this your dream season?) was: $1,618,443.

                              Try again.
