Buy up those Mack tickets Maine fans. They'll go quick. Let's make it Alfond 2 for the weekend.

I like Maine at Merrimack. Cannatta isn't the same goal tender as he was early in the year (allowed 5 goals last night), and was pulled in both Maine games at the Alfond. Maine's offense will be fine and the goal tending has come around with Sullivan establishing himself as a solid goal tender. He made some great saves last night. Maine's defense is the key and they have to prevent mental lapses. Maine will be in the semi-finals and will move up in the pairwise. This team has quality young men with character and they will demonstrate that this weekend, in my opinion. Go Black Bears!!!

While it would be fun to see Maine end BU's season, and pretend we were back in the 90s, it's probably just as well that Maine gets Merrimack. For those exact reasons, and for one more: winning at BU has been a tall order for this program in recent years.

The only problem for Maine (if you can call it that) is that even if they pull out all the stops and they pull off a road sweep and move up in the pairwise, they can't call the NCAA or Hockey East offices and say "Okay, we're good. Let's end the season now."

Losing in the semifinals will erase whatever gains they stand to make in the quarters. It's still the finals or bust for Maine. Probably league championship or bust.

Yup. They certainly hava lot to play for....now we get to see if all that lip service they've played for the last 6 months is just that, lip service. Its put up or shut up time.

Maine blew a 2 goal lead with 12 minutes or so left, its not good. Not sure it really matters int he end but hate seeing that. Get ready to go to MC, Maine can beat them, whether they will????. I actually think they will but, doesn't mean much, they have to think they will.

I don't believe the official line on Diamond, he's hurt more than they are saying but the kid won't come out. Maybe a week off will help but Maine needs him to be his usual pain in the butt self to beat MC

Diamond skated on Saturday like he had roofing nails in his skates, pain with every move.

Of late what is attractive for a AD to want to come to Maine for 4-5 years..? To move on...? I fear we may get another Blake, and if we do...ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I hope for what you said...but I don't see it.

a young go getter with ambition can do a lot at Maine. THis person will want to build a resume and turning around the flagship program (hockey) is theirs for the taking... Maine STILL has some reputation left, unlike Lake State... but that reputation is drying up fast.

I think they CAN beat Merrimack. Not 100% convinced they will. Was there for a high school gane yesterday, building so warm. Ice was wet, hard to make crisp passes hurt the more skilled teams, which I believe Maine is in this matchup

Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at 8:30 for Black Bear club members and season ticket holders. At noon the remaining allotment is offered to the general public. Also may be available from Merrimack ticket office. I think tickets are in short supply as there is no Maine fan bus.

Why the heck was he in the lineup then? For show? TW mind games? Not enough confidence in the depth of the other forwards riding the pine?
Why not just rest him for the playoffs rather than seeing limited ice and risk for re-injure?............go fiqure..............

He should have sat if he can't go close to full speed. They're other guys who can go and I know they aren't Joey but.....The personnel decisions have baffled me for years

How much per ticket?

Thinking of heading down, but the prospect of a Sunday game at 7:30 is going to kill me at work on Monday....

Just another reason why TW is disliked by many...Maine knew they would be 5th no matter what...but thats TW being TW.....this season he has frustrated most people by playing forwards as d-men and d-men as forwards in the same game....while both could have been at their best in their natural postions....they call it mind games, its more like B.S. 101

One thing you have to rememeber, Joey might have said he was ready, whats Tim going to do, Maine needed to win but I think they need a healthy Joey for MC more. We'll see what happens come friday. When Joey was hurt earlier, he stunk when he couldn't go full speed. The guy can carry several guys with stick handling but not without wheels

My take:

Diamond looked sore on Friday, then was hauled off the ice like he'd been shot.Never expected to see him on Saturday, but I did,and he looked fine...Go figger.

Both nights,we saw a group of forwards who work hard along the boards, showed off some hands, cycled the puck effectively, and rotated a guy into the slot at the right times to create good scoring chances.Maine was dominant both nights,at least until they built a lead, and tried to hang onto it forever.

It's human nature to relax a bit when things get comfy, yes, but the poor play in the 3rd both nights was all on Tim,if you ask me.Suddenly,he had all three forwards along the wall on the forecheck and nobody looking for a shot,as though he could stall 20 minutes away.

It was very frustrating to watch, especially in light of the fact that this Maine team is as good or better up-front than a few of my Daddy's Maine teams of yore.(That's for you,Wally!)Why not turn them loose all game long, though? They are good enough to keep the pressure on,IMO,and maybe even score more goals than the 3 or so Tim seems content to sit on.

And they need to score as much as they can, because Maine can be gawd-awful in its own end.

Sully was *OK*;he has a good glove,anyway...But the D was fairly clueless at times, especially Banwell (as usual),and Van Dyck (much more unusual.)I really think that the younger guys are/will be better than the departing D.They seem to display superior instincts down low in their own zone.

No way in the world this team is gonna advance to the NCAA's,IMO,but I have really enjoyed seeing a team with this level of talent just the same. It's been a while.

Now,all we need is somebody who knows how to deal effectively with the strengths and weaknesses of what he has on hand.
