No kidding! Congrats to the DU women on beating CU. And good luck to men's soccer as they take on UC Santa Barbara on Thursday. Anyone have any info as to whether the soccer game will be televised on ESPN U or some such channel?

No TV or internet video as far as I know, but UCSB does broadcast a local radio feed that they put online.

      Info: Here:
      http://ucsbgauchos.cstv.com/sports/m...111510aac.html

UCSB draws the largest soccer crowds in the country, with one crowd this year over 17,000. I would expect 10-15,000 at this game.
DU will have its work cut out for them.

What a great environment for an NCAA tournament game. I don't know whether Sam Garza left DU for UCSB on good terms, but it will be interesting to see whether he can scorch our Pioneers. I suspect that he will, unless DU's coaching staff comes up with a great plan to neutralize him. I predict a 4-1 loss for DU. I hope I'm wrong!

Seth Appert was upset bt the refs in Friday's game against Union so he showed a video of RPI's disallowed goal with 7.6 seconds left in the game.
The ECAC Commissioner was upset so he suspended Seth for RPI's next game.

Some major news outlets carrying stories on DU hockey players past and present:

Jesse Martin gets a good-sized story in USA Today:

                  Re: All Things Denver XXIX

The Pioneers are in finals this week, which screws up all kinds of practice and rest routines, deflates the home crowds and almost always results in some choppy play.

That said, we saw Bennett, Makowski and Maiani break scoring droughts last weekend, and they need to build on that this week. Right now, I'd have to say that Drew Shore, Sam Brittian, Jason Zucker and Matt Donovan have been Denver's best players recently, and they are all underclassmen. These seven guys, along with Ostrow and Salazar, are the core players that are going to need to produce for Denver to improve. There are four juicy league points on the line, and the Pioneers will need to come togther and put the distractions behind them...

Chambers blog in the Denver Post with a Jackson update. He has been cleared for full practice amd may play this weekend. Lee (hand) and Phillips (groin) are questionable.

I wonder who Denver meant when they compared him to another 6 foot 200 pounder? (Dusty Jackson maybe?)

If he signed a Letter of Intent it means that he got at least some scholarship money. The size is the key.

As usual there is way more to this story than meets the eye. The step-father is two time Stanley Cup winning forward Ruslan Fedotenko, who currently plays for the NY Rangers. Not only that, but there are two Jacobsons (a brother and perhaps a cousin???) on the Janesville Jets who could be a third string goalie and more depth at forward.

From Brad Schlossman on the U17 Four Nations Tournament:
Former NTDP media relations coordinator Chris Peters was at the tournament doing radio work. He posted scouting reports on all of the U.S. players on his Twitter account

Peters said that defenseman Seth Jones, who currently is uncommitted, was the best player on the ice in every game. Jones will be a strong target of the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, but his brother is playing at Denver. He’s the son of former NBA player Popeye Jones.
Can we get another brother into the fold?

Interesting that Jacobson is the stepson of the Penguins' Ruslan Fedotenko.

The "Tank" now plays for the NY Rangers. Besides the Rangers and Penguins, he has also played for the Flyers, Lightning and Islanders winning cups with the Lightning and Pens.

Bagman will be happy that the son of a Ranger will be coming to DU.
