Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread
In other non-ice hockey news, because I don't think I can talk UML hockey at this point, the men and women's basketball teams take on Merrimack this Saturday at the Tsongas. 5pm for the men, 7pm for the women. Don't know much about the women's team but the men are 4-2 and Merrimack is 5-1. Some great games between these two teams last year, a sold-out win at Volpe for Lowell in the NE-10 semifinals and a tough loss in the NCAA regionals. Hope some of you come out for this..

Also, kind of a crappy time, but the field hockey team is having a celebration rally at the Tsongas on Friday at 3.

Just what this team needs....more injuries! From the radio show, Caveney is out for the year with a torn ACL, Ruhwedel is out for this weekend, and Cey re-injured his groin and is out for the weekend. Blaise mentioned that at practice today they only had 11 forwards and 6 d-men.Charter Member of darin's "UML Seven"

That being said, somehow I am sorta optimistic about this team starting the new year. We should be more healthey come January 7, Blaise mentioned Campbell skated some in practice so that a good sign, has anyone heard anything about Budd? If I recall correctly he went down in the Vermont game (11/5) and havent heard anything since then...But getting Soup back for this team is gonna be HUGE, the team kinda looks like a ship with no captain whose young crew gets really high on positives and really low on negatives, I think Soup can have a calming affect on the whole bench. Also we miss him on the dot and he shoots the puck on net (he is tied for 5th on the team in shots on goal and has only played 6 games....the 4 guys in front of him have played 16).
But yeah, good luck to anyone going to Princeton this weekend, just a reminder they have the coldest rink in college hockey so bundle up.

Hopefully they put up a respectable performance this weekend and rest up/heal for a nasty start to the new year. @UNH, @Northeastern, UMass, @UMass, @Merrimack, @BC.
Do the Hockey East schedule makers hate Lowell? The start of the season was bad enough and then they put together that schedule.Let's go Lowell.

To some extent, the Merrimack, UNH, and BC games are gravy. The focus games during that stretch are the NU and UMA games, since we will have to either displace them and/or PC to make the playoffs. UVM isn't going anywhere, so for now I'm not worried about them. If this team is going to have any realstic shot at the HE playoffs, they need to beat NU to even the season series, and take three points from UMA. If the HE losing streak continues, the numbers are going to start to be too high to overcome. Hopefully, BU can do us a favor and give NU another loss, BU leads 4-3 now after two. I don't want to see UMA take any points in Orono on Sunday.
Before we get there, Princeton should be the only concern this weekend. Even with the injuries, they need to come away with something positive. I'll be tickled pink with a single point and it will be an early Christmas present if they come out with a win.Last edited by John_Fuller; 12-08-2010, 07:35 PM.- John

I heard from a friend that Wil Rayner isn't with the team anymore, which isn't thoroughly surprising.Monty
