Coach Umile has announced the recruiting class for the 2011-12 season and there are a couple of surprises (http://www.unhwildcats.com/sports/mi...201106073umaxd): Dan Correale will be coming one year earlier than expected. Jay Camper will try to overcome recurring difficulties with concussion symptoms. Jamie Hill is not coming and there's no current information on his plans.
Not all that surprised to see Correale come early- He'll be 20, I beleive- and had a pretty solid yr in the AJHL. Player profiles read very nicely especialy on speed and playmaking, coupel of proven goal scorers as well! Willows looks to have all the makings of a great late pick-up. Has excelled at every level- "never takes a shift off" - Gotta like that..
If Hill is still coming in '12
that makes-
Smith, Hill, Geaudreax, Thrush and Vecchione
replacing- Bori, Moses & McCarey.
Unfortunately, Hill is also not presently on the Heisenberg recruiting lists for '12.
Perhaps Jamie Hill is being held in reserve in case one of the announced (2011) recruits does not meet all the admission requirements or chooses to renege on their commitment to UNH.
Wanted to give an update on my son's friend and former teammate on his HS team, Mason Jobst. If this kid isn't on UNH's radar he should be because if this kid continues to develop, some D1 team is going to have a heck of a playmaker on their team. Jobst is a 94 playing for the Indiana Ice U18 team this season, so far his stats are 10 goals, 10 assists, 2 short handed goals in 30 games. Last week in a tournament in Foxboro MA he had a six point weekend. On Thursday he got called up to the U17 USA developmental Team and played last night against the Indiana Ice. In a 6-2 loss he had a goal, PP assist, 4 SOG, was +1. Not bad for a 16 y/o against 19 and 20 y/o kids. Last Summer he was the top scorer in the U16 USA hockey Select Festival, here is his scouting report for that:
Yes my son roots for UNH, I grew up in Durham its genetic. I know Mason's father has asked about UNH but as far as I know they haven't been contacted. So far I think they have heard from 4-5 teams from Hockey East, CCHA, ECAC and Atlantic Hockey.
If (Jamie) Hill is still coming in '12 that makes-Smith, Hill, Geaudreax, Thrush and Vecchione replacing- Bori, Moses & McCarey.
Unfortunately, Hill is also not presently on the Heisenberg recruiting lists for '12.
Looks like 2013 Recruit, Brett Pesce will be playing for the Jersey Hitmen of the Eastern Junior Hockey League next season. The Scouting News has an interview with the coach of the Hitmen discussing Pesce's future prospects for being an NHL draftee (http://www.thescoutingnews.com/index...id=1&Itemid=77).
In addition, Pesce was not on the roster for the Omaha Lancers Tryout Camp (http://www.lincolnstarsblog.com/). He had been drafted by the Lancers of the USHL last month.
FYI, you have the wrong link. That goes to a Lincoln Stars blog....not an Omaha Lancers blog.

Oops - Sorry for the confusion. The Omaha Lancers held their Tryout Camp from June 3-5. I haven't yet located a list of players who participated. Any help?
Throughout June, several UNH Recruits participated in the Tryout Camps of the United States Hockey League team that drafted them. Tomorrow, each USHL team will submit a list of the players that have made either the active roster or affiliated list, to the league office. The active rosters will include 25 players who are protected (i.e., the team retains the players' USHL rights) and the affiliated list includes 14 additional players (also protected). Some USHL teams have already made these list available to the public, some will release them tomorrow, and some don't release the information. Here is the current status of the UNH Recruits who were drafted by a USHL team: Muskegon Lumberjacks Casey Thrush - Made the active roster. Michael McNicholas - Is on the affiliate list. Sioux City Musketeers Maxim Gaudreault - Made the tryout "all-star" team (final 42 players). Andrew Poturalski - Also made the all-star team. Tri-City Storm Dylan Maller - Made the tryout "all-star" team. Mike Vecchione - Also made the all-star team. Dubuque Fighting Saints Kyle Smith - Is not on the active roster or affiliate list ;participation in tryout camp not confirmed. Waterloo Blackhawks Jamie Hill - Roster not (yet) available; participation in tryout camp not confirmed. Matias Cleland - Roster not available; participation in camp not confirmed. Indiana Ice Tyler Kelleher - Roster not (yet) available; participation in tryout camp not confirmed. US NTDP U-17 Team Tyler Kelleher - Participated in tryout camp. Information on whether he was offered a position not available. Omaha Lancers Brett Pesce - Roster not (yet) available; participation in tryout camp not confirmed.
All players who make the active roster or affiliate list are invited to the USHL team's training camp in early September. After the USHL Fall Classic, Sept 21-24, each team must reduce their active roster to 23 players.
The NHL Central Scouting Service (CSS) released it's 2012 Players to Watch List for North American (http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=69970) and International players (http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=69972).
These lists represent CSS's preliminary identification of players who are projected to have potential for being drafted in the 2012 Entry Draft next June. Players are rated according to the following system:
"A" - considered a must see player, identified as a potential First or Second round selection in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.
"B" - a player to note if you are in the area, a potential selection in the mid rounds Third to Fifth Round Draft selection in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft
"C" - a player Central Scouting is tracking, a potential late round selection in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft: we are not recommending that the team scouts go out of their way to get a viewing on these players.
Two UNH recruits, who are projected to enroll in the Fall of 2013, have been rated as "B" players: Dylan Maller Andrew Poturalski
question CHC.Is UNH going after the Northeastern decommit??? i know they went hard after the kid .do they even have the money or room? that would be an impressive pickup this late into the summer...thanks
