Dealing with the concussion issue first hand as my son's hockey career (For what it is worth) ended with a second major concussion up in Berlin NH while playing for his HS school team against Berlin. He had his first at the age of eleven and after this one the doctor's have said absolutely no contact sports. Happened in early January and we are still going regularly to the Concussion Clinic at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon, NH. Same description of ongoing systems from Camper. I hope he does the smart thing and hangs up the skates.

I never really understood why teams have recruits come to a game when they are playing a team that is better than you (or better than anyone for that matter). Isn't there a fear a kid like Maller would watch that game, call York and say "sign me up"? Obviously not a UNH phenomenon here. Its like having top recruits being invited to a Northwestern football game when they are playing Ohio State.

Sorry to hear about your son, Carl. While there's probably no single solution, what changes (e.g., equipment; rules; etc.) are needed to reduce these life-altering injuries?

During the EJHL playoff games tonight, only Trevor van Riemsdyk registered a point when he assisted on what was the tying goal in the second period. The NH Jr Monarchs were able to get by Kyle Smith's Jr Bruins team in OT. In the other semi-final series Matt Willows was held off the scoresheet but his Jersey Hitmen team was able to get by Bay State 2-1, also in OT. Both playoff series continue tomorrow.

Currently at the Whitt, we are in the 2nd intermission, with 2 goals less then a minute apart late (less then 3 minutes to go in the period) in 2nd period have our boys leading 2-1.
