Just out of curiosity..RIT is #1 with a rating of 1.46 and Platty #2 with a rating of .77. Why is there such a huge difference between them?

Looking at the numbers, RIT has Platty beat on every measure listed in the table except total strength of schedule (as opposed of schedule to date, which RIT wins).

As I have also been trying to not comment on fan opinion polls this year, I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around people ranking a 4-3-2 team ahead of a 9-1-1 team when they tied in the head-to-head. But that's just me.

I've met two others in my lifetime, which makes up about 50 percent of the fan base.

I understand this is an opinion poll, but having seen Amherst beat your #7 and tie your #3 (on their home ice) how is it your opinion of the Lord Jeffs is so low as to leave them out of the top 10? I would love to see Bowdoin back in the top 10, but I watched a bit of their lack-luster effort against New England College last evening and I am afraid they have some tough sledding when they face the NESCAC heavy weights in the coming weeks.

I guess I just think that a team that that is 4-3-2 (.555) does not belong in the top 10. against .500 or better teams they are 2-3-2, overall 4-3-2 As you said it's just an opinion. When teams face the heavy weights and lose they'll drop in the polls. Even UWSP at 8-2 has fallen out of my top ten, for now they are still in the Berry Patch Top 15

Is the home ice the whole reason for your ranking Amherst higher than Platty (aside from your love for the NESCAC), despite the fact that Platty is 2-1-0 against the same opponents that Amherst is 1-1-0 against? Realizing that comes from Elmira playing Platty twice, they still beat Norwich, too. I'm not really understanding how a one-loss team is lower than a 3-loss team, unless we are feeling bad because Amherst has played mostly road games, of course.

You raise a valid point and I respect your opinion. I've seen both teams play several times and it is my opinion Amherst is a better team. They have made some adjustment in their D pairings and after Hu's performance last weekend I am comfortable ranking them #2.
My question for nbound concerned how he excluded them from his top 10 when they are ranked 5th by the USCHO Coaches poll, 8th by KRACH (with the #1 by miles SOS), and 4th by lakersfan's Rutter model? Not to mention the Bowdoin #10 (with losses to Midd, Hamilton, UMB and last night's tie with NEC)?
I do follow the NESCAC, but have managed to get out to Pine Valley for the Manhattanville games, up to Northfield for their season opening tournament and their win over Amherst and to Plattsburgh for their loss to Elmira. I have no daughters playing the game and hope I manage to stay objective, NESCAC kool-aide notwithstanding...
