  • Remembering Mark Bavis

I'm sorry that I couldn't post this earlier because I was working. I wanted to take the time to recognize Mark Bavis, former BU Terrier (and Parkway Little League Twin ) standout.

Most who knew Mark remember him as a fine hockey player and all who knew him remember him as an even finer person.
He was a class act and a gentleman.

Mark and many others had their lives cut short by cowards on 9/11 and his loss is still felt by many.

PC91. Thank you for posting this. I thought of Mark Bavis today also. He should be enjoying a barbecue with family and friends tonight. Some deranged worthless people made that impossible. Your sentiment is, obviously, infinitely more important than who wins hockey games.

I ate at T. Anthony's on BU's campus tonight. They have a framed "in memoriam of Mark Bavis" plaque that happened to be on the wall right above the table I was sitting at. Definitely got me to thinking. Thanks for posting this, PC91.

I played a couple of years behind the Bavis boys in youth hockey. For those who wish to remember, here are some good links:

Here is a story from NESN on a horse names Aces Mark, in memory of Mark and Ace Bailey, former Bruin who was was with Mark that day.

Here are the results from today at Belmont: Aces Mark finished in the money in the 8th race:

Here is a link to the Mark Bavis Leadership Foundation, where you can find out more about the work being done in his memory, and how you can support the foundation.

God Bless the Bavis family, the Bailey family, and the families of all who were lost that day.
