  • Yale 2010 Off Season thread

After the Worcester sting has worn off a bit I figured we could discuss Yales future prospects for the upcoming season and any other issues that are important to the program. I myself would surely like a clarification on who is in the next Class of 2014. I researched a few of the players that were listed on Heisenbergs list of Yale recruits, http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...JG47g-ug&gid=1

Pick a name and let me know who you think we may see next year as a Bulldog.

Probably because this is the updated, 2010 list.

Gus Young should be a good player. He was drafted in 2009 by Colorado, so it looks like he has some pro potential (grented he was a late 7th rounder).

Good article in the New Haven Register about the outgoing Yale seniors and the incoming prospects who are listed as Gus Young, Brad Peltz, Jesse Root, and Clinton Bourbanais.

Also a nice article about Gus Young, still looking for this stats from this past year at Nobles.

Some Bourbonais comments from the Souix City Juniors coach
              #15 Clinton Bourbonais

              Position: Forward

              Height: 5-11

              Weight: 178

              Age (DOB) 20 (12/31/89)

              Home: Colchester, Conn.

Background: Bourbonais scored 30 points (7 goals, 23 assists) in the 2007-08 season for Traverse City (Mich.). A year ago, playing for the NAHL's St. Louis Bandits, Bourbonais ranked second in scoring with 53 points (20 goals, 33 assists). He was great on the power play with the Bandits, with nine goals and had 12 assists. He also tallied five game-winning goals.

Strand says: Clinton comes to us after a solid season in St. Louis (NAHL) last year. He is gifted with a lot of ability and a good understanding of the game.

He was supposed to graduate this year, is he using an injury redshirt to play in 2010-2011? Is he healthy?

Re: Yale 2010 Off Season thread

There are no redshirts at Ivy league schools, you have to leave school for the year you dont play.
I dont really know what to think about Cahill, his first 2 years he skated with Backman and Arco and looked pretty good. His junior year he was basically a 4th line player who didnt even dress all the time. Can't hurt to have him back though, maybe they can teach him to play D.

Interesting thing about prospect Gus Young.. I do not have a link because its a paid for website, but after the draft last year he was listed as Red Line Reports most underrated draft prospects and one of the best "values" of the draft.

Jesse Root and Brad Peltz had a successful season for the Boston Junior Bruins as they were towards the top on their team (a good team) in scoring.

Kenny Agostino (2011 I think) looks to be a great prospect and was invited to the scouting combine in May this year.

Future looks pretty bright for Ingalls... hopefully they can commit to a good goalie for 2011 or, at least, 2012

I think if Maricic can learn to move quicker side to side, he'll be a fine goalie. Last year, he was caught cheating way too often and shooters took advantage of that. Quickness would alleviate that. Thankfully, that's something that can be taught.

I'm sure confidence has alot to do with it, but I hold my breath on every long shot taken on Maricic. it seems he gets caught in between going down or just playing aside. Every long dump in is an adventure.

It is kind of ironic that we all call Yales Achilles heel their goaltending and the two most important goals against were scored from over the red line.

I believe that our goaltending problems are exposed because of weaknesses in the D. Obviously the goalies didn't play well but if the defense plays better next year (which it probably won't because we lose Donald and Digs), I think Maricic or Malcolm could develop into solid goalies.

Donald and Dignard should both be playing the AHL this weekend. Donald has an ATO with Springfield, who plays Providence and Hartford the next two nights. Dignard signed an ATO with Albany, who's out in PA this weekend.

Good luck to the d-men, represent the Bulldogs well!
