  • Show me the money--Players turning pro

As teams' seasons come to an end we say goodbye to another group of players who have used up their NCAA eligibility. No longer will they play for school pride. For many of them it's a time where they now are playing for the almighty dollar. Still, other players get offers that they can't refuse and find themselves making the jump to the pros early.

Does your team have players making the jump? I know there have already been some listed in the transaction pages, but who is going where?

Let everyone know who is turning pro and where they are going after playing for your favorite program.

    Signings from Western Michigan:

Tyler Ludwig - D - Texas Stars (AHL)
    Riley Gill - G - Kalamazoo K-Wings (ECHL)
Cam Watson - F - Bakersfield Condors (ECHL)*
Jordan Collins - D - Bakersfield Condors (ECHL)

    * Watson was singed to an ATO, and has since been released.

INCH does a nice job with these signings and updates the lists frequently.

INCH does not list Marcou and Irwin. Hope it isn't true, for sake of UMass as well as Hockey East because UMass would then loose top 5 scorers.

Michigan State D Jeff Petry has reportedly signed with Edmonton. Nothing official at the moment, just hearsay.

Brown's Aaron Volpatti (hard-hitting forward) was signed by the Canucks this week. He is a senior biology major and will finish his degree.

Maybe that'll shut up the St. Louis fans who wanted him to sign a couple weeks ago.

It is indeed true about Marcou and Irwin.

From UMass Lowell, 4 seniors have signed so far:
Jeremy Dehner signed an ATO with Norfolk of the AHL.
Nick Schaus signed a contract with the Earthquakes, assuming for their AHL team.
Ben Holmstrom signed a future contract with the Flyers, and currently is playing for the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL (he's scored his first pro goal).
Carter Hutton signed an ATO with the Phantoms as well, and gained his first win.

Schaus is a great athlete, but I don't think he'll be playing professional soccer.

Also, Barry Goers signed with Las Vegas of the ECHL. Nothing up on their website yet about it yet though.
