This post would probably stop the clock. Collectively we're DU junkies, no hope, no cure, no rehab, with dreams of Jay Stickney rolling around in our heads. Perhaps we could organize a telethon.

I think we can kvetch for another month or so. This DU team really underachieved in the the post season relative to their talent and expectations, and it doesn't make us any less of a fan to discuss the disappointment that everybody who has an attachment to the program still feels. Our team regressed at the worst possible time.

Next year figures to be interesting, to say they least. The team will be quite experienced with a lot of seniors, but perhaps a little underpowered offensively and perhaps shaky in goal. Some returning players are going to need to make some leaps developmentally, while at least two of the newcomers (Bennett and Zucker) are going to be called upon to produce quickly.

The Canucks only have three players experiencing their first NHL post-season (Matt Pettinger, Tanner Glass, and Michael Grabner), while LA has 13.

Keith Seabrook--Abbotsford Heat vs Rochester Americans

After a couple years playing Junior “A” hockey in British Columbia, he took his game to the University of Denver in 2006-07 but posted only 13 points in 37 games for the Pioneers.

Seabrook decided to leave school at the end of that one year and play major junior instead, and he spent the next two seasons with Calgary of the WHL, erupting for 55 points in 64 games during the 2008-09 campaign.

“I really liked Denver, liked going to school, liked the team, and I had a lot of fun there,” Seabrook said. “But coming off the year before and then going to a 35-game season (at Denver), it was a little different and a little tougher for me.

USA Under 18's faceoff against Canada in 7 minutes from Belarus. A huge game by Jason Zucker could help his NHL Draft status immeasurably. Right now he being pegged as a mid-2nd/early 3rd round draft choice.

Beau Bennett's stock is back on the rise in several mock drafts I've seen today. After being touted as a early 2nd round pick for much of the last few weeks, he received some major props from at least one NHL scout who said he had "Top 10 potential."

The last 16 picks in the upcoming draft will be determined by playoff performance, but as I see it there are five teams that would be logical landing spots for Bennett.

#16 Anaheim Ducks - Probably wouldn't burn the #12 pick on Bennett but might be willing to take a flyer with their 2nd pick in the first round on the hometown boy. DU Alum Matt Laasch is a scout with the Ducks.

#19 Colorado Avs - Have close ties with DU coaches and Stastny angle has paid huge dividends.

#22 Los Angles Kings - The hometown angle might be too much for the Kings to pass up.

#26 Vancouver Canucks - Bennett played in Vancouver's backyard this season. Odds are they know this kid backwards and forwards and are probably the best team to judge his talent. If they by-pass on Bennett at #26, he would probably fall out of the first round.

#28 San Jose Sharks - A California native might look good on their roster and with past 2nd round picks on Matt Carle and William Wrenn the pipeline is already in place.

            1. Edmonton Oilers
            2. Boston Bruins

Zucker made a statement and got Player of the Game, which must have been nice coming against Canada and in front of more than a few NHL scouts.

Let's hope he scores some early goals for DU next year. The Pios were so much better when they scored early....

He's at least three years too young to gamble in Las Vegas.

Casinos there are pretty strict about underagers these days.

Seabrook scored 2 goals including the game winner last night against Rochester. I guess we can count him as a DU guy as long as he keeps playing well. ;-)
