I've heard an unconfirmed report that Scott Zurevinsky may be leaving the program early. According to this source, Zurvy has been getting a lot of attention from scouts and either this year or next could be leaving early. I truly hope this is merely heresay and holds no truth because we'd be in a world of hurt without him.

If one would speculate on common trends in the program it wouldn't surprise me to see one of the lesser used Freshman depart for a better opportunity or even a player like Coughlin who is seldom used may take off. It would also not surprise me to see either Hartzell or Cadieux leave the program as well. Clarkie seemed to solidify his position in goal and that leaves the ever present but seldom seen Pat McGann along with both of the Froshies. That's a lot of netminders.

Regardless, I believe we're only bringing in about 4 Freshman so the that should leave plenty of playing time for returnees.

Here's to hoping the Zurvy rumor isn't true & Cornell represents the league well.

Scroll down to #7.

Get rid of that banner, please!

And while we're at it, dump the NEC Playoff Participation banners in the basketball arena too.

Reid Cashman was selected to the ECAC all decade second team. Now if he could only crack the NHL  . Either way with the talent in the league it's a nice accomplishment.

On a side note. The Grand Rapids Griffins have played twice since signing Brandon Wong and he has been a healthy scratch in both games. Boring.

Pretty good for Reid considering he only played 2 seasons in the ECAC and his Hobey Baker finalist season was his sophomore year.

JMB has signed (http://www.ecachockey.com/men/members/quinnipiac/20103003_BeaudoinBakersfieldSign) with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors. Congrats Jean-Marc!

Any chance you could send a goalie down I-91 to Yale? Just a loan for a season, as you say, you don't really need them.;)

How funny is it that the Dallas Stars still have Pat McGann listed as one of their prospects on their prospect roster. Guess they haven't really been checking up on him.

In Beaudoin's first pro game he was kept off the score sheet but if you look at Stockton's box, former Bobcat Jamie Bates had a nice game with a goal and two assists.

http://echl.leaguestat.com/stats/official-game-report.php?game_id=7864

But in JMB's second pro game he netted one in a 5-4 win. Way to go Cap!

On a side note, Brandon Wong has been a healthy scratch four times since joining the Grand Rapids Griffins. It has to be pretty hard to get a good view of a player in a tryout contract if you don't play him. The Griffins have back to backs starting tonight so hopefully Wonger will find some playing time.

Well, look at Zane Kalemba, former Princeton goalie. He was released by the Norfolk Admirals after serving as back up for 8 games. He never saw action. The same could very easily happen to Wonger. You have to assume they are getting a fair sample size of his skill in practice and maybe it's not giving the coaches enough confidence to put him in the game. Regardless, I don't know a lot about it either but Grand Rapids just signed two forwards out of juniors and one of them has already seen ice time. With the AHL season winding down, it'd be nice to see him get in at least for a couple games. After all he's my namesake.

Jeany's doing his thing at the next level!

Former captain Jean Marc Beaudoin scored the game winner and the division title clincher for the Bakersfield Condors last night in a 2-1 win over Idaho. JMB now has two goals in his first three games and is definitely making a name for himself.

On a down note, Brandon Wong sat again for the Grand Rapids Griffins. He has been a healthy scratch for all five of his games up at the AHL level.

In other Bobcat alumni news...Jamie Bates has tied the Stockton Thunder's single season points record. Bates now has 27 goals, 46 assists, 73 points for the Thunder this season. Hopefully, AHL parent club Springfield will catch wind of this and bring Jamie up for next year's squad.

With the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL, former D man and captain Dan Henningson has had a quiet year. In 32 games, he's amounted 3 goals and 8 assists while registering a -3. On the positive side, Henny has been playing the past few games and scored two games ago.

ECAC All Decade second teamer Reid Cashman is back up with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL on a loan status from Cincinnati of the ECHL. He appeared in his first game back, not reaching the score sheet, in a 6-5 loss to Peoria. Glad to see Reid back at the AHL level.

Matt Sorteberg is back from injury and a mainstay on the blue line for the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. Sorty has a goal and 5 assists since joining Utah from Idaho.

Here is a photo from the Grizzlies site of Sorty.

Also check out the stach he's been sportin...

Bryan Leitch has had quite an interesting season. Leitch has played for six ECHL teams this year, which has to be some sort of record, no? He saw 17 games with Cincinnati, 4 with Alaska, 6 with Florida, 3 with Kalamazoo, 8 with Toledo and 10 with his current team the Victoria Salmon Kings. All together in 48 games Leitch has amounted 7 goals and 11 assists. Lately, he's been a healthy scratch for the Salmon Kings.

David Marshall has been playing very steadily with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL. He has collected 21 goals and 10 assists in 53 games this year. He also had a little stay with Lake Erie of the AHL earlier in the year.

This has been your Bobcat alumni update. Take care.

Mike Atkinson won the New England Hockey Writers Association Unsung Hero award (http://www.ecachockey.com/men/members/quinnipiac/20100304_AtkinsonUnsungHeroAward).

If anyone on the Bobcats was unsung, it was mookie! He was always out there hustling and trying to make things happen.

Congrats Mike!
