So Raty, who is a Patty Kaz finalist, lets one in from center ice? Really?? How does that happen?
Obviously, it should never happen. To me it looked like the shot caught her completely off guard - she didn't expect it. A good example of why a goalie needs to be maintain her concentration at all times. With the way she's played all season it's hard to fault her on just this one lapse, but I'm sure it's one she'd love to have back.
Thank goodness Westy came through in OT - just one heckuva effort that capped a great game.
Had to see the shot. It was as I said before INSANE!
I have only seen the goal in real time. I haven't seen any replay. In real time my reaction was . . . oh, that's not that good.
But my viewpoint wasn't necessarily that good to judge that shot. It clearly was from center ice. mattj711 has seen the replay and has stated his opinion. I guess I will reserve final judgment until I see the replay.

I agree with mattj711 that it was absolutely wicked and sick. I also agree with one other Gopher fan who said that it appeared that Noora went down expecting it low and it went high. Plus it was an absolutely rocket -- I would have loved to see a radar gun speed on that one.
Not happy with the Gopher D about allowing the two-on-one that scored the first (allowed) Clarkson goal. When are the Gopher gals going to learn?
Amen and amen. Her first goal was a thing of beauty, and her second was her nation-leading 10th game-winner of the season.
My heart goes out to the Clarkson team and fans. Great effort by them. Hard to lose that way, and I hope to see them in the NCAAs next year. Here's a wish for safe travels on their return home.

Okay, just saw the replay from the opposite angle. I still want to see the radar gun, but I honestly don't know how Noora missed it. Thankfully the Gophers were able to overcome that.

Re: 3/13/2010 Clarkson@Minnesota -- the Golden Quarter
Congrats to Minny and best of luck going forward! West had a monster game and was the best on the ice. Tough for Clarkson to play that hard and lose on a horrible turnover, but such is the nature of the beast.
That being said the Clarkson ladies never quit, never, not once. Hopefully, the men take note.
Congrats to Clarkson on a great season! I look forward to your battles with Cornell next season.
Here's to UMinn kicking Duluth's ***!
I look forward to a Cornell/Minnesota battle this season. Or even a Mercyhurst/Minnesota battle. But for the present, the Gophs get one more shot at the evil empire. That will last me for a few days. But I join you in saluting Clarkson, a team that I didn't want to see in a quarter, and they showed me that my fear was justified. I doubt you'll have to wait too long for your next NCAA appearance.

And an unofficial assist to #10, putting on a lot of forechecking pressure to create the turnover that allowed the Gophs to suit up as hosts in the FF. As she has done for 4 years, she does a lot of things that don't show up in the stats but are invaluable.
A number of Gophers had very strong games. A handful of others seemed like they either didn't appreciate the fact that this game was win-or-else, or they were so traumatized by that knowledge that they couldn't skate and carry the puck at the same time. And a note to one of our kids -- leave the finesse plays in your locker next week, bring your hard hat instead, and just keep getting the puck in deep. You can't keep turning it over in bad places; you just can't. There's a reason why the fundamentals are so ... fundamental?
Now comes a week of UMD fans explaining how they are going to beat us yet again, like they are Wisconsin or something. I'm sure they feel real good about the matchup. Let's make them feel much less thrilled with it. As the great mattj once said, let's kick some UMD posterior.

Re: 3/13/2010 Clarkson@Minnesota -- the Golden Quarter
My view of the kick-in goal was inconclusive. I heard from others with a better view that the kick was blatant. Certainly Doocy and Elam didn't dawdle over the review before disallowing the goal.

Anyone have any more details?
West and Francis were rather emphatic in their opinion that the player who "scored" had her stick in the air at the time the puck was propelled into the net, and that it was not a good goal. Matt Desrosiers said conversation on the Clarkson bench was to the effect that it was kicked in, but the player who did so or another player may have gotten a stick on it before it went in.

Dave, how close to the crossbar was that? To me it almost seemed like she gave up on it because she thought it was going over the net. I'm sure she was seeing that shot in her sleep last night.

Well, one of the reasons it bounced out so quickly was that it was very close to the upper back bar of the net. I'll just leave it at that. I don't think Noora "gave up on it".
