Ah, grasshopper, you have to work backwards and understand the culture of the MASCAC.

First - the season must end by Saturday so we can all wait with baited breath for Webb to produce his Map on Sunday to remind of that East is CCCP and West is Cheese.

Second - The MASCAC is geographically compact. Travel is not a problem. All the schools can go there and back again in an afternoon/evening.

Third - Rent a Rink. It is fortunate that the top two seeds in the tournament own their own rinks. The league cannot clear ice for two straight days in a rent-a-rink. So they took precautions and play on Thursday and Saturday. Plus it is HS playoff season and Friday nights will pack the barn with screaming teeny boppers and you cannot muck with the HS playoffs.

Fourth - it is only a recent development that college playoffs happen only on the weekends. Back in the day when I was attending college on the western shores of the mighty Racquette River, the ECAC playoffs were Tuesday QF and the the survivors went to Boston for the semifinals. In fact, in the beginning, HEA played its opening round during the week before going someplace for the finals.

Fifth - The MASCAC has most of its roots in the ECAC-NE. They play their semis tomorrow night. So the MASCAC is true to it roots.

I would much prefer Friday/Saturday at a central site like the ECAC-E or a three banger weekend like the SUNYAC, but the MASCAC starts later and has to squeeze more league games in a shorter time frame, so they can't do that.

        It is what it is.

        Now, anyone have scores?

Why would we read the MIAC thread? The title says it's an overlooked league. Thus, if we all read the MIAC thread, it would no longer be an overlooked league. That sort of paradox would make all our heads explode.
