  • ECAC Pick the Playoffs 2010

OK for all you losers in the ECAC Pick the Standings Contest here is your chance to redeem yourselves .

Congrats to the Cleary Cup winning Yale Bulldogs. Yale, Cornell, Union and Colgate have the Byes for the opening round.

"Here is how the contest is played. There is both an individual and team contest.
Please when you make your pick let me know what ECAC team you root for.
A minimum of 5 players is needed for the team competition.
Pick who you think will win each of the first round playoff series and what the game count will be.
    As an example:"

RPI vs Brown. RPI 2-1 or RPI 2-0 or Brown 2-1 or Brown 2-0

"You get a point for picking the correct winner of the series and a point for each correct total wins for each team.
Max first round point total per series is 4."

If RPI wins 2-0 and you pick them to win 2-0 you get 4 points, 1 for RPI as the winner, 2 for each RPI win and 1 for picking Brown to not win a game.
If RPI wins 2-1 and you pick them to win 2-0 you get 3 points
If RPI wins 2-0 and you pick Brown to win 2-1 you get 1 point
If RPI wins 2-0 and you pick Brown to win 2-0 you get 0 points.

"So here are the first round matchups: PLEASE KEEP YOUR PICKS IN THIS EXACT ORDER AS IT IS EASIER FOR ME TO ENTER THESE IN MY EXCEL SPREAD SHEET TO KEEP SCORE.
Please use the real team names when you enter your picks.
Hopefully the first poster will have the order right and everyone can follow after him/her."

              SLU, 2-1
Hmm... should I follow my heart or my head? My head says 2-0 RPI. My heart says...2-1 RPI. My heart isn't stupid.
              Dartmouth, 2-1
Princeton, 2-0 (only because I loathe and detest Harvard).

(Just to clarify, I'm going with my head and picking RPI 2-0).

Hypothetical situation: Brown wins 2-1 and I pick RPI to win 2-1. Does this mean I get 2 pts because I correctly picked each team to get a win?

My reasoning tells me that (for each matchup) if you correctly pick the series winner, you earn at least 3 pts.

yes, you only get 2 pts since you did not pick the correct series winner.
