  • Alaska @ OSU, Fri. 2/12

Alaska is tied with UNO for 5th place in the CCHA with 35 points. OSU sits at 10th place with 31 points. However, CCHA points are much like the peso...looks like a lot but doesn’t count for much. Especially when five out of the seven teams tied or below Alaska have two games in hand, including OSU.

With six points up for grabs each weekend, fourth through tenth place is still a virtual dead heat. A sweep either way will greatly improve that teams chances of hosting a first round series.

    Go Nooks!

No TV tonight, but that’s OK, we got Cech-er on the radio.
Greenham in net for the Nooks, Heeter for the Buckeyes

    Here we go...

      Back and forth action.
But doesn’t sound like anybody getting quality opportunities.

Hearing Dion’s name often. Last weekend it was Dion 3, MSU 1, in total goals.
Hope he stays hot this weekend.

Gehon and Odegard are healthly scratches for the Nooks.

      A couple chances by OSU

Heeter gives up a couple rebounds, but the Nooks can't capitalize.
        SOGs 3-2 Nooks early on

OSU with a little posession time in the Nook end. A chance or two by OSU.
Media timeouts making this unexciting game less exciting.

        ~9:00 left

            Fast first period so far.
            No penalties.
            Not much flow.

Nooks fail to clear and OSU with a good chance, glove save Greenham.
Sounds like OSU is spending more time in the Nook end than vive versa.

            SOGs now 7-4 OSU
            Another media timeout... zzzzzzzz

No penalties but not much flow? Usually penalties slow the game down and ruin the flow of the game. Is there a lot of neutral zone play here, or what do you mean by "not much flow"?

Why does OSU insist on playing in this huge arena?

OSU comes back and ties it up 54 seconds later. Schneider, unassisted I think

                      1-1

How many does it seat? What is the attendance like?

It's also their basketball arena, so capacity is something like 17k, but they only draw in the ballpark of 4k.

EDIT: Looked it up, capacity is 17,500 and average attendance this year is just south of 3,000.

4000 avid fans is not a bad attendance. But you're right, in that large an arena, it probably ruins the atmosphere and makes it look empty. Too bad.
