Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

Perhaps Baker's dad could throw in another lump of cash and Tech The Institution can set up a discounted student travel package for the games.

My uncle is a Tech alum and he's living over there. He told me he's definitely taking his sons to one of the games.

Yeah what a shame. With the trip being 10 days in August you would miss the whole summer Up North.

In all seriousness, I actually think this trip would be a lot of fun. There is so much in the world to see/do and I want to see as much of it as I can.

I was going to say that those of you who are desperate should come up with an excuse to transfer, until I read this...

Jayne Dallas, a senior studying advertising who was seated across the table, grumbled that the population of male undergraduates was even smaller when you looked at it as a dating pool. “Out of that 40 percent, there are maybe 20 percent that we would consider, and out of those 20, 10 have girlfriends, so all the girls are fighting over that other 10 percent,” she said.
Most Techies probably aren't husband material, so nevermind.

It's been a long season, but have we had a WCHA player of the week before this?

WCHA Offensive Players of the Week

Eric Kattelus – Jr., F, Michigan Tech

Ryan Lasch – Sr., F, St. Cloud State

A pair of veteran forwards – Eric Kattelus of Michigan Tech University and Ryan Lasch of St. Cloud State University – have been named the Red BaronĀ® WCHA co-Offensive Players of the Week for Feb. 9 as a result of their outstanding efforts in league play last weekend.

Kattelus, a 6-1, 195-pound junior center from Houghton, Mich., earned Winter Carnival MVP honors for host Michigan Tech while tallying four points and leading the Huskies to the Carnival title and a WCHA series split with No. 6 Minnesota Duluth.

He scored the game-winning goal last Friday (Feb. 5) and also added one assist in MTU’s 3-1 win over the Bulldogs. He then followed up with a pair of assists on Saturday to give Tech a 2-1 third period advantage before UMD rallied for a power-play and shorthanded goal to win 3-2. In addition to his four points, he also fired five shots on goal and earned a +1 plus/minus rating.

Kattelus has nine points (2g, 7a) in 15 games this season and has seven points (1g, 6a) in his last six games.

Lasch, a 5-7, 175-pound senior right winger from Lake Forest, Calif., helped guide St. Cloud State to a 4-4 (ot) tie and 6-0 victory over Alaska Anchorage on Feb. 5-6 at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.

Lasch opened the weekend series with two goals and one assist in the tie against UAA last Friday, with his assist coming on teammate Ben Hanowski’s PPG that tied the game with 1/10th of a second left in regulation.

To finish the weekend, Lasch helped ignite the SCSU offense in a 6-0 win over the Seawolves on Feb. 6. He started the scoring with a PPG at 10:41 of the first period, which proved to be the game-winner, and then added assists on second and third period goals. In the series, Lasch notched three goals, three assists and six points, fired seven shots on target and was a +2.

Lasch leads the Huskies with 15 goals and 33 points this winter and now ranks third in the team charts with 167 career points (74g, 93a).

Also nominated were: Mike Testwuide, F, CC; Anthony Maiani, F, DU; and Brendan Smith, D, UW.
