No no no. Just have every team stop off at a local Roller Dome and rent some skates for the night. With any luck, the first two or three players can actually get the size they need and not have to go one bigger or smaller for the night.

Indeed. The other teams may cry foul when when the loser of this regional loses to the loser of the other regionals on account of lack of practice time on ice.

The committee has granted a special exemption to Holy Cross allowing them permission to fly to their regional in Saugus. BFB Travel Coordinator Emil Arehart (no relation) booked them a flight from Worcester Regional Airport to Logan International Airport in Boston with connections in JFK and Reykjavik Iceland. Traditionally, BFB participants are not allowed to fly to tournament sites, but the committee was sensitive to complaints from several other teams about Holy Cross' trip being too short.

Several teams have already left for their regional, others are scheduled to leave later today. Driving times and distances are as follows:

Providence to Moscow ID; 43 hours, 2819 miles
              AIC to Moscow; 42, 2740
              Clarkson to Moscow; 41, 2650
              MTU to Moscow; 27, 1667
              Harvard to Laurium MI; 22, 1224 ***
              Conn to Laurium; 21:30, 1190
              Army to Laurium; 20, 1182
              Princeton to Laurium; 19:30, 1166
              WestMich to Massena; 12, 631 ***
              BG to Massena; 10:30, 615
              RMU to Saugus; 10:15, 586
              Mercyhurst to Saugus; 9:15, 554
              Niagara to Saugus; 8, 479
              Bentley to Massena; 6:30, 365 **
              Dartmouth to Massena; 4:30, 232 **

**Bentley and Dartmouth have NOT been made aware that the Lake Champlaine Bridge is closed for renovation, and will require a substantial detour.

***The most direct routes for WMU & Harvard require passing through Ontario, and the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) have warned the BFB Committee that "any attempt by any participant in this travesty of a tournament to enter their sovereign territory will be considered an act of terrorism." The committee meant to pass this information along to the teams, but the post-it notes were misplaced. Please be advised, the clerical temp responsible for this error has been disciplined; she was hired full time, and promoted to office manager.

The welcoming committee would like to blame Clarkson for underperforming so much, that Dartmouth now has the shortest trip. Had Clarkson played better, Dartmouth could be swapped with Michigan Tech, creating 2 long bus rides instead of one, and not having an intraconference matchup.

Out of curiosity, what travel time does this itinerary result in?

Having done a little research, I have located flights from JFK to Iceland and from Iceland to Boston, which result in 11 hours, 20 minutes of flight with a 14 1/2 hour layover, but have been unsuccessful in getting the team to JFK from Worcester. Perhaps they should drive to JFK. (which would result in an additional 3 hours of driving time, leaving their total trip at 28 hours, 50 minutes).

An apparent attempt by officials at Providence and Clarkson to defraud the BFB for travel expenses has resulted in both teams being stranded on Interstate 90 just north of the Iowa-Minnesota boarder.

According to reports, the bus carrying the Providence team stopped on the outskirts of Utica NY, and picked up the Clarkson team which had hitch-hiked down from Potsdam earlier in the day. That bus, loaded far beyond its capacity began experiencing mechanical difficulties around Mason City IA, and finally ground to a smoking stop about 4 miles east of Blue Earth MN.

Details are still sketchy, but it seems they have abandoned their bus, and are now traveling in the back of a semi trailer bound for Billings MT. The truck had been empty, returning from Chicago after delivering a load of live hogs to a slaughterhouse. No word yet on how the teams intend to make the final leg of their journey from Billings to Moscow.

OREGON, OH. Chaos abounded at the FunSpot RollerRink late this afternoon when three college ice hockey teams converged on the same location in search of rollerblades and/or roller skates. The three east coast teams, all traveling separately, were headed through the Toledo area in route to a tournament in the upper peninsula of Michigan.

They had received word that the tournament site, George Gipp Arena in Laurium MI no longer had an ice surface, and that the games were to be played on wheels. The University of Connecticut Huskies, Army Black Knights and Princeton Tigers had each made several stops along the way trying to rent rollerblades or skates at rinks in Pittsburgh, Youngstown, and in the Cleveland area.

When, by total coincidence, all three buses converged on FunSpot simultaneously, several fights began to erupt. Within a very short time those separate fights all merged in to one giant melee requiring the attention of at least twelve squad cars from the Oregon Police Department.

According to FunSpot assistant manager Mikey Jackson (no relation) most of the property damage was limited to the entry doors and the area near the rental counter. One witness also reported seeing two 'preppy looking' young white men wearing orange ties using the blade of an ice skate to pry open the condom vending machine in the men's room.

No word yet as to how many arrests were made, or how many of the hockey hooligans were injured.

They took I-90?? Who in their right mind??

Edit: Just kidding, I was thinking they took I-90 through Minnesota. I've calmed down now.

Edit #2: They did take I-90 through Minnesota in this scenario. I suppose it would be prudent not to get them out there too fast for their games.

More importantly, why would a couple Princeton players needs condoms? Marquette is a 2.5 hour drive from the Gipp.
