In looking for new Norwich recruits I noticed that Cody Zubko of Yorkton of the SJHL has commited to Castleton. I don't think anyone has talked much about it but it looks like Castleton is bringing in a lot of guys from some good Junior A leagues in Canada. It will be interesting if the new guys can give the program a big boost like last year's recruiting class did at Norwich. I saw a few Castleton games last year and something seemed misssing, possible scoring.

Chris Beede, Seatle Totems FWD and NORPAC leading scorer heading to Concordia College. It is listed on the Totems Web page. 112pts last season. Must be a weaker league.

On a side note, I think a lot of the NAHL teams don't always report D-3 Commitments.

I know that Avino from Bismark is heading to Olaf, and I have also heard of several others going to MIAC and NCHA teams that have not been reported by the NAHL teams yet. I think the NAHL in the Midwest only likes to post the D-1 Commitments for PR reasons.

You are spot on with the NAHL, a few other leagues are like that as well. I know of 3 kids that plan on going (they have all applied to and been accepted) to Hamline next year (two from the NAHL and one from the CCHL). All three had hopes of playing D-I but are tired of the Junior A grind and decided they would rather go to college now instead of playing another season of Juniors. One reason their Junior teams may not announce the boys plans is because the team has expectations that the players are coming back for another year.

Here is another example of a yanked scholarship, this one at least happened before the kid got to college but painful none-the-less. Its sucks that a player like this may have passed on other viable alternatives over the years thinking they had something waiting for them at the end of Juniors. Hopefully it works out for him.

Looks like he staying with his junior team, but that doesn't make it ethical that his scholarship should be yanked before he ever made it to the ice - even if this is the likely reason.

That is without a doubt the reason. Blais has his sights set real high for the program and he is attracting some talent the old coach could not land. Sucks for the kids who get bumped, but that's the way it is.

I know this particular player was looking forward to starting his college career, 4 years in the USHL is a life-time.

It's been around for a long time, and is just plain wrong. DI athletics is wrong in so many ways. They long ago sold out their connection to education for the pursuit of big bucks. Yet another reason why I like DIII athletics.

I agree 100%. Most of the D1 guys leave early anyway. Why not just play Junior in Canada? Big time college sports are just development leagues for pro sports. But the coaches make the money not the players.

Plymouth state gets on the board with their first 3. Including a transfer from the NCHA. Each MASCAC team now has at least 1 on the list.

Also, 1 more to Westfield State
