  • US Junior Team cuts

The 30-man U.S. Junior Team preliminary roster was trimmed to 24 today. To bring the roster down to 22, another two cuts will be made following Tuesday's exhibition game vs. the Czech Republic in Moose Jaw, Sask.

The cut players were defensemen Justin Faulk, Jon Merrill, John Moore; and forwards Vinny Saponari, David Wohlberg, and Kenny Ryan.

    Here's the 24-man roster:

The US Junior team cut 6 players today, 2 more tomorrow after the game vs the

Goaltenders (2): Jack Campbell, Mike Lee.

Defensemen (8): John Carlson, Matt Donovan, Cam Fowler, Jake Gardiner, Brian Lashoff, Max Nicastro, John Ramage, David Warsofsky.

Forwards (14): Ryan Bourque, Chris Brown, Jerry D'Amigo, A.J. Jenks, Tyler Johnson, Chris Kreider, Danny Kristo, Philip McRae, Jeremy Morin, Kyle Palmieri, Jordan Schroeder, Derek Stepan, Luke Walker, Jason Zucker.

Of the 24 players, two are ‘92s (Campbell, Zucker) and eight are ‘91s (Fowler, Ramage, Bourque, Brown, D'Amigo, Kreider, Morin, Palmieri). The remaining 14 players are ‘90s.

Very interested to see John Moore cut. The highest rated dman drafted in the NHL from the US this year. he, as well as Ryan are both playing major Junior instead of D 1. Does anyone out there spell a little reverse discrmination compared to the Canadian team, which for the first time in many years went zero college kids. John Moore is better then 5 of the d at least on that team and even though I heard he had a rough camp in August with the junior team, he clearly deserves to be on it. they also bag Ryan, who is doing well in the OHL where Kreider for example is struggling adjsuting at BC. Very interesting....

No. Moore probably deserved to be on the team, but it sounds like they are trying to make the best TEAM possible. Even without Moore, there is plenty of offense on the blueline, especially from the left side. If there was such bias against the CHL by the USA, Moore and Ryan wouldn't have made it this far in the selection process. Ryan was even given a late invite to the December camp.

huh? doesnt O mean ohl? or has BC's offense become so good that they are just referred to by a single letter?

I meant at BC. kreider is a very, very good player.

Moore and Nicastro were on same team last eyar and 100% of the accoldaes went JM's way. Nicastro is college, Moore is Major junior.

Only interesting because of the other thread wheree they are accusing the Canadians of dissing the college kids

Keep complaining, it only makes you even more endearing.

If you are going to defend Canada's attitude toward the NCAAs, don't come whining to us when USA Hockey takes a similar attitude toward major juniors.

Or maybe those guys just suck.

Major Junior representation on this team is quite high so I can't understand how anyone can say there is a bias against the CHL here.

Most countries are trying to form the best team they possibly can. Canada and the U.S. are looking at the right players for thier teams....not just the star players.

Moore claims the fix was in and he wasn't given a fair chance to make the team.

He is 100% right. He would be top 4 on that team and he was being subtly dissed going back to August. People looking for reasons to slam his game.

                John Ramage? please
                Brian Lashoff? please
                Matt Donovan? please
                Jake Gardiner? please

none of these 4 are even close to him. He is also a tremendous kid who is a great teammate.

Ramage was forced onto central scouting, they had him listed as high as top 100. Him and Rempell from harvard, both US Natl dev kids, not one team would even take a chance on them witha 7th rd pick.

You can thank John Hines for the coaching staffs input here. God forbid if they ever admitted that they 100% wasted 4 million dollars developing their picks.

NHL wont draft our kids, then we will drive them down everyones throats and make sure they know that we were right and 30 teams were wrong.

Herb Brooks would be proud tonight...

Moore should declare Canadian citizenship and play for the Canucks since he is obviously the second coming of Bobby Orr.

                    Sorry, only one Bobby Orr......

he is though better then several of the kids they picked. Him and carlson would have been lights out.

Something was up from day one.

Maybe Blais holds a grudge against Roger Moore for being a crappy James Bond compared to Sean Connery and he's taking it out on John Moore.

I have some bad news for you Badgerhawk.. John Hines is not Herb Brooks.

I love the quote though and if Herb was picking, you knew it made sense.

Its not a John Moore thing, it was simply a look at how two kids got cut who left US colleges to go Major Junior.

Excellent observation, Dirty. Perhaps, though, it is his distaste for Dudley Moore, who is apparently an abysmal hockey player. Guilt by association?
