  • RPI vs. Union 10/30/09

A true test tonight for the young Engineers. Their first experience with the ECAC and cross town rival.
I expect the team to play well with speed for 60 minutes.
They will continue to create opportunities.
Last week they were pretty good about staying out of the penalty box, they will have to continue that tonight.
    I am looking for a 3-1 win.

    LETS GO RED!!!!!!!!!!!!

You point out some interesting things. I think penalties may indeed determine this game. I am not so sure though that our young guns can avoid taking a plethora of penalties from ECAC refs yet. Last weekend may have been an aberration-I cant recall a game where we did not take at least 1 stupid penalty. I'll take any win we can get by any score-Union is no pushover and is probably the favorite at home in this game. I do expect more scoring though-perhaps a 5-3 game which could go either way.

        Re: RPI vs. Union 10/30/09

I will not be able to listen to the game, nor will I able to post on here for either game this weekend. I'll look forward to reading everyone's notes, and seeing the press conference at the end of the game.

0-0 and the game hasn't begun yet

For some reason I am getting very slow response from the internet. I hope that it clears up soon.

                  Merriam getting the start?

                  ETA: No, it's York.

From Ken Schott, here's Union's lines:

                  Adam Presizniuk/Jason Walters/Mario Valery-Trabucco
                  Kyle Bodie/Kelly Zajac/Jeremy Welsh
                  Brian Yanovitch/John Simpson/Wayne Simpson
                  Justin Pallos/Andrew Buote/Stephane Boileau

                  The defensive parings are:
                  Mike Schreiber/Shawn Stuart
                  Brock Matheson/Nolan Julseth-White
                  Mike Wakita/Greg Coburn

Corey Milan gets the start in goal.

The officials, look out for insanity.

                      Tim Kotyra and John Murphy.

RPI fans will recall that Kotyra and Murphy were the guys in charge of Game 2 between RPI and Cornell last year.

                        Also from Ken Schott's blog:
Tim Kotyra and John Murphy are the referees. The linesmen are Mike Emanatian and Jim Harper.

                        Edit: I was late.

We have our absolute worst record with Kotyra on the ice. At one time I recall we were 2-18-1 with him and it has only gotten worse since. This is not a good pairing for us.

Given the penalty and PK problems Union has had this year, this may work to RPIs benefit if these two jokers decide to get whistle happy. Of course, RPI has to stay out of the box too.
