Matt Mackinder's preseason look is up on the front page:

      USCHO CHA preseason

The big surprise to me is not picking Niagara to win but picking RoMo for 4th.

Interesting that the beat writers for CHA at both USCHO and INCH picked Niagara for first while all the national polls have Bemidji ranked much higher. I tend to think that the national polls are more influenced by last season's finish rather than looking closely at how things shape up for this season.

Did you not see the glaring error in the piece? The PK numbers are all wrong. According to this website. Where the original piece comes from.

        Reading or math FAIL?

          SID fail.

The info is gleaned from each school's statistics as posted on their respective websites. Unfortunately, The Automated Scorebook for Hockey doesn't display a "penalty kill" percentage, only an "opponents' power play" percentage, thus the 18% penalty kill efficiency numbers.

Though it is typically considered in good form to go by the statistics provided by College Hockey Stats, as their system has some nice ability to error correct power play situations (which are a BEAR in TASHK, ask Jamie) that exist in the game files.

            I'm sticking with math fail.

            132/165 = 80%
            171/202 =/= 15.3%

                  Exactly, Mike.

And how much does last year's PK (especially misstated) influence this year's season predictions, anyway? I don't think that was the key to Matt's decision making!

GET SOME! Great win by UAH over #5 Notre Dame. I really hope the CCHA is reconsidering UAH

As are we all, but not because they won a game.

As I told some of the UAH fans I met after the game (BTW, it was nice to meet you gfmorris), they just wanted to gauge the stability of BG. I'd bet my house (or at least my garage) that you'll be in the league next year.

Nice win tonight. I said I was nervous going in to this weekend. I was right to be.

"Why, as a matter of fact, I suggested starting a hockey program to Father Callahan, our president. He was downright interested until we came to the use of sticks, and then he threw up his hands. He said, 'No, that game is not for our University. Notre Dame will never endorse any game that puts a club in the hands of an Irishman.' " -- Knute Rockne: All American

                              Results

Colgate screws up everyone's picks with a couple of late goals to salvage a 4-4 tie.

UAH with the shocker over #5 Notre Dame, 3-2.

Bemidji handles the pride of Atlantic Hockey, 3-1.

I talked with Paula Weston during the third period ... she thinks we'll be in the CCHA in two years.
