Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Clawing our way to Albany
That game was absolutely incredible. A lesser team would have lost that when they blew the three goal lead. One grit and character showed today. This team is something special. Let's keep the magic going Q
What a freakin game! This could be one of the best live hockey games I've seen in a long time. The team started out scorching and like the past few games faltered toward to end. I leaned over and told Mark halfway through the game that my namesake, Mr. Brandon Wong was nowhere to be found. Then with 1:10 left in regulation he arrived. GTG and GWG!
Umass made a great showing in the stands and on the ice. This led to a very exciting atmosphere even without the students in the building.
This was the first time in a long time that Dan Clarke was made to look ordinary, but the team picked him up and didn't allow for the collapse.
This team does not fail to impress and I advise anyone in the area who hasn't made their way to the Bank to head over as soon as they can.
Now, right back to work...Yale on Friday @ what should be a crazy Ingalls.
I'll talk to you all closer to the date. Great day for Bobcat country.
THIRD STAR: Zach Davies: This is a HUGE stretch but at times Davies showed shades of Reid Cashman in his ability to seamlessly enter the puck in transition. I look forward to what this kid can continue to do in the future.
SECOND STAR: Mike Atkinson: Not only did he notch the second goal of the game but he totally created the game winner and hustled all night.
FIRST STAR: Brandon Wong: Could it be anymore obvious. Two HUGE goals and seriously made up for disappearing early on in the game.

Ok, it was ugly at times but I really liked how the guys fought until the end and found a way to win. Giving up 4 unanswered goals would have caused some previous teams to fold up their tents and go home. Not this team! They gutted it out and did what they needed to when it counted.
Wong (the player, not the poster ), while almost non-existant for the first 58 minutes, came up with 2 huge goals when they were needed the most. The momentum had clearly gone to UMass midway through the 3rd but Brandon manage to wrestle it back to the Bobcats.
We'll take the win and head to Ingalls on Friday.

Re: Quinnipiac Bobcats 09-10: Clawing our way to Albany
Good win for Quinnipiac. UMass was flying in the third but the Bobcats battled back and tied the game on a beautiful tip by Wong. He also did a good job of cleaning up the junk for the OT winner. Great game in all, but for me that was a LONG ride home.

Didn't make it to watch with you guys but enjoyed the game on TV. Having the benefit of watching on the tube and seeing replays I have to say I was real impressed with Davies. He is very calm with the puck (like Cashman was) and made some beautiful plays, passes and rushes.
Great win for you guys and a nice win for the ECAC. (Unlike SLU tonight who got hammered in Portland) I know you guys "pay" to get your games on NESN and I have to say it's a good strategy for the University and recruiting (for students as well as athletes). Watching the commercials it was like an "informerical" for Q Pac!!!!
Just sparking some convo...where does the Umass win rank with the programs biggest wins. List some that are at the top of your list.
I'll play. I think it's probably tops on the season. Ahead of Ohio State sweep since its a win over a Hockey East power at home. But for me I'm still putting games like RPI, SLU in Albany and of course Harvard at the Civic Center.
Thought I'll concede I'm the wrong person to ask. I'd say any win against Yale is huge. As a spectator those were always the most fun.
Point being, things are looking good for QU right now. That ranking will likely go down as ECAC play picks up (next highest league PWR is Cornell at 15), but QU is in great shape for a postseason bearth.
where does the Umass win rank with the programs biggest wins.
I think the biggest win in QU's short ECAC history to date has to be the 2nd game of the sweep of Cornell at Lynah in '07. Did anyone think we'd win either of those games?
Next would be the 4-0 drubbing of St. Lawrence in Albany that same year.
The inaugural ECAC victory at the Civic Center against Harvard has to be right up there as well.
After that, I agree with Quinn57: any Yale victory.
Then you have to consider all the first-round ECAC playoff wins.
UMass last night was a great win and probably is worthy of the top-10 in program history simply because it was a victory over a top-10 team.
