      Stoney 2 Aurora 0
      London 3 Hamilton 0
      Missy 2 Southwest 0

      Semis matchups are
      Mississauga vs Aurora
      Stoney vs London

Seems just a bit silly (not to mention expensive) to me to have a bunch of Toronto area teams travelling more than 6 hours away to end up playing each other for all the marbles.

This tournament is usually very well scouted, so IMHO there is value, specially this time of year when some seniors are still working on their landing spots. The entree fee is also low at about $700 USD for a four game guarantee.

Little to no value to the scouting IMHO for the PWHL players as every scout around will be in the Stoney Junior Showcase next weekend anyway. Further, any game between Missy, Stoney, Aeros, Ottawa generally attracts a few scouts regardless of where its played--even as a one off.

Even if the entry is low which I agree it is, including bus, hotel, meals etc still means around $7,000 added to the team budget...or $400+ per player....that buys a heck of a lot of local ice, or maybe instead helps keep ridiculously escalating player registration fees stay under $5000 to allow more players to afford to play at the top level. My opinion only, which obviously isn't shared by all.

Congrats to Stoney who beat their cross-QEW nemesis Mississauga 4-2 in the Union final.

Meanwhile, closer to home at the Stoney Midget AA Showcase this weekend, the Toronto Aeros edged Little Caesars 1-0 to win their final. Stoney lost to LC 3-1 in their semi while the Aeros topped Kitchener 2-1.

Your viewpoint does hold a lot of merit for the GTA centric teams. However for teams outside the GTA, travel to tournaments of this nature is good value for their dollar.

One other item to consider is the chance to be seen. With only 12 teams at Union, all at the same ice pad, chances are very good that each team is seen at least twice by most scouts. With 40 teams and 4 pads on the go at Stoney, some teams may only get seen for half a game by many scouts. This does not apply to your Stoney's, Aeros and Missy's who get scouted a lot anyways, but for many PWHL teams and non PWHL teams this does apply. Just my experience.

              Re: Union Showcase Tournament

I think if a team wants to show well at Stoney then to have a tournament done before is not a bad idea. The first tournament brings its own challenges and these teams at Stoney will have an advantage ( if the travelling and scheduling wasn't crazy and doesn't fatigue players)
