  • University of North Dakota '19-'20 Season Thread - There's this Tournament in March..

A nice win to open the season last night, and hopefully more of the same tonight. After the great results on the PP against Manitoba I expected at least one PP goal. Good zone entry and possession will lead to a much better PP this season.
Believe it. Earn it. Raise it.

Hitting the net would help. Rebounds are a good thing

Eh, different powerplay, same results. They've generated some very good opportunities, but have not been able to bury them. Last year, they never figured it out. Hopefully the early failures are just an anomaly and they start piling up powerplay goals. That is likely what will separate this team from being a mediocre to slightly above average squad and a top end team capable of bringing home some hardware.

In any event, it looks like Pinto is going to be a special player. Get him the puck as often as possible in the offensive zone, and I think we will all be pretty happy with the outcome.

Chances were had but it seems that weak side wing could get a little lower at times for a back door pass. And yes Pinto is going to be special

Kawaguchi is great at getting open for that...what he does with those chances needs a little work.

I do think we're going to be better this year than last. However, our margin of error will likely be very small. We likely won't be able to overcome going 0-4 or 0-5 on the powerplay and still win...even against weaker programs.

2 nice goals from Senden and Adams got the boys on top 2-1. Outshooting the Griffins badly once again 26-6

And finally a powerplay goal! A little unorthodox...but I'll take it.

Great speed by Mismash to make that happen

Yep. Mismash has played with a little more fire early on this season. If this team is going to make a leap to contend for hardware, Mismash will likely need to be a 1.00-1.25 ppg guy.

This is what UND is suppose to do to teams like Canisius. Take them behind the woodshed and beat the **** out of them

Agreed. A 13-1 thrashing over the course of the weekend. Good start to the season. Now on to Mankato...where they will get a much tougher test. Anything less than a split would be disappointing. Anything more than a split would be a great weekend. Keep it up boys!

Purple Cows are one team I’ve always liked. Back in the old WCHA days they always played the Sioux tough. Now they have a kid I coached for a couple summers on a AAA team in Jared Spooner. Great kid but I hope he does well next weekend but with a couple L’s

Some good stuff in last night's game - scored on the PP, scored 4 goals, didn't take very many penalties. Disappointing to cough up two 2 goal leads, and let the W slip away holding a one goal lead in the third.

Still turn the puck over in the defensive end to much.
