This night is going about as badly as it could. BU is winning and UMass is losing.

What a difference a few minutes makes...

Would still really like another Friar goal though...

MA 34 (17) 38 1 ME, at UC
PC 29 (13) 31 2-4 BC
NE 27 (13) 33 1-7 at BC, BC, UNH
ML 27 (12) 33 1-6 at UNH, UNH, at UVM
BU 25 (11) 29 3-7 MC, at ME
ME 24 (10) 28 3-8 at MA, BU
BC 21 (9) 27 4-8 NE, at NE, at PC
NH 19 (7) 25 6-8 ML, at ML, at NE

UMass has won the Hockey East championship and #1 seed in the playoffs.
PC has secured home ice.
Maine is huge BC, UNH and Merrimack fans this weekend.
Barring something unusual this weekend and next, it appears likely Maine will finish #6 and play at PC, NE or ML.

At this point I've accepted passing NU or UML and getting home ice is a pipe dream, I'll be satisfied with passing BU and getting up to 5th. Any combination of results besides Maine loss and Terriers win on Saturday sets up a showdown at Alfond for 5th place. I bet the atmosphere would be electric.

I certainly hope Sunny (or Sonny) whatever her name is will not be doing the color analysis - she is dreadful. I can barely take the play-by-play guy.

I like her. She is knowledgeable and adds a fresh voice and perspective to the sport.

She played hockey for Providence back in the 2008 timeframe (I say that to point out it's not as if she doesn't understand the game). My initial reaction was the same as yours (a lot of "cliches"), but as the game wore on I actually thought she was very insightful. And she is certainly very articulate. I didn't have a problem with her.

ME TOO! I'm with you on that John but unquestionably the worse is Tom Caron who is Florida where I hope he stays until season's end.

...unquestionably the worse is Tom Caron who is in Florida where I hope he stays until season's end.

Ha! I hope you don't listen to Red Sox games, because Tom is now one of the expanded "cast of characters" that will be rotating through the booth...

I'm assuming radio, because WEEI made the "announcement."

If you believe in Maine's ability to win tomorrow night, the scoreboard looks good right now. If you don't, it's a bit of a scary look.

Winning at UMass is certainly a long shot... BU at home is doable this year.

My guess is that it won't matter much, one way or the other.

I agree, Smith must be injured.
