***BCHL Playoffs 12 GP, 5G-5A-10 Pts., 4 PIM (Complete)

It appears that the Beavers will have an experienced D-Corp coming back. It will be interesting to see if the freshmen turning sophomores will be able to step up and fill in some of the scoring lost. The biggest hole to fill will be the one in net. Fans of the Beavers have been spoiled over the last four year with Michael Bitzer in net. The two returning goalies have played a total of three games, only one of them as a starter. Zach Driscoll is coming in from the USHL and will have three years of eligibility left after playing the 2016-17 season with St. Cloud State.

Re: Bemidji State Beaver 2018-19: Time To Take The Next Step

I think Driscoll or whoever winds up being the #1 goalie will be the key next year. I don't think anyone can expect him to be as good as Bitzer but if we get above average goalie play I think we're in for another good year with all the defenseman coming back. Although of course Whitecloud is a big loss. We're pretty consistently steady defensively over the years as a program so in order to take the next step I think we need to become more consistent offensively. We lose some guys next year but the potential is there to be a better offensive team with 4 of our top 5 goal scorers coming back. Hopefully one of Armour or Sillinger brings their scoring prowess to the collegiate level right away. I also think Brady, Combs, Miller, and Harris are going to wind up being really good hockey players by the time they graduate. I like the young corps of this team a lot. It seems that our recruiting has also improved over the last few years. I really like the way this program is headed as long as we don't take a big step back this upcoming season.

MTU coach Joe Shawhan told his off-season radio show that, per a conversation with Tom Serratore, Bemidji will likely play Tech in an outdoor game when they meet in Minnesota.

While ideally, BSU and Tech would play on Hockey Day Minnesota, the actual date is going to depend on which weekend the Wild are home. That won't be known until the July 1 announcement of Hockey Day Minnesota. I know a lot of the communities that have hosted HDM have left the rink up for a week to maximize the number of teams that get to play on outdoor ice. So, in theory, HDM could be January 12th, 19th, or 26th depending on the Wild Home Schedule, but BSU and Tech more than likely would be playing on the 19th, which could be HDM or could be a week before or a week after.

Re: Bemidji State Beaver 2018-19: Time To Take The Next Step

Update time. I am only including the stats from those players that were active from the last post back on 05/02/18. A couple of notes though regarding the recruits.

Nicholas Cardelli will be playing in the Clark Cup (USHL Championship) with Youngstown against the Fargo Force in a best of five series (games 1 tonight, 2 Saturday and 5 in Fargo). Nicholas started the year with Fargo before making his way to Youngstown.

Darby Gula and the Steinbach Pistons qualified for the RBC Cup, or the Canadian Junior A Championship. Round Robin play will include the Chilliwack Chiefs (host), Ottawa Senators, Wenatchee Wild and the Wellington Dukes before moving on to medal round play.

Tyler Bronte of the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Knights and Alex Adams of the Minot Minotauros both qualified for the NAHL's Robertson Cup in Blaine. Minot will take on Fairbanks and Wilkes Barre/Scranton will take on Shreveport in best of three series starting tonight to move onto the Robertson Cup Final (one game on Monday).

Congrats to former Beaver Brad Hunt and the Vegas Golden Knights on winning the Western Conference and advancing to the Stanley Cup!

Former Beaver Zach Whitecloud is also a Golden Knight, but was signed out of college by Vegas after the playoff roster deadline.

The end of the year has finally come for the Junior Hockey Leagues. Here is an update, with the end of the year stats below.

-Darby Gula and the Steinbach Pistons went 1-3 in round robin play at the Royal Bank Cup in Canada, missing out on advancing to the Semifinals.

-Alex Adams and the Minot Minotauros fell to Shreveport 2-1 in the NAHL Championship game.

-Tyrone Bronte and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights dropped their two NAHL semifinal games to Shreveport

On the pro side of things, Brad Hunt and the Vegas Golden Knights have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. Brad has yet to see playoff action.

Matt Dalton and South Korea went 0-7 at the recent Group A World Championships and have been relegated to Group B.
