I certainly agree as we have discussed before, but talent is important too.

I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a recruit or two before the summer but for now, thanks once again for your continued devotion to this Thread Ralph. I know how much work you do in keeping us all updated. Thanks Ralph
Brandon Pirri: Turk would give it to Jagr. That's awesome! Jagr's untouchable. And he would give it to Jagr.

I strongly agree that we will see a recruit or two since we have only 13 forwards (Liljegren, J. Ohrvall, Wiffen, Tironese, Hayhurst, Marrello, Polino, Reisnger, Burgess, Stout, E. Ohrvall, Payne, and Jerry) by the latest count.

No need for anyone to thank me. I will do it anyway. What I hope I do next season is wait until the morning to post all of the summaries.

Although we need more forwards for 2017, we may done with 2018. That is assuming no other defection.

The class of 2018 originally had 7 members, but after losing Gillespie, Nanne, Melanson, and Bell, it is down to just three (Liljegren, Prapavessis, and Wilson). I suspect that Bendorf, Babichuk, and Tuliara will replace them. OTOH, Coach Smith may want to add his own players. (I don't think that either Tuliara or Babichuk will show up this fall.)

That is a given of course. otherwise you could just recruit a tree. But some of our recent failings have been at least in part because we cannot physically control the ice whether it be in front of our own net, along the boards, or setting up in the offensive zone. At every level from NCAA and upward, size does matter.

If Boston College and Yale can be successful with a bunch of midgets, I don't think it's absolutely necessary to have huge people, especially if they're just going to end up being pylons. I see it as more of a rock-paper-scissors type of argument. All styles of thinking have their advantages and disadvantages. You want the smaller ones if you're going to play something more up-tempo and circle skating. You need the bigger guys if you want to trap and close down opportunities. You want the built low center-of-gravity guys (think Rabbani) if you want a game of hitting. Maybe even a combination of all three with each on a different line so the opposition doesn't know what hit them. Let's have the systems adjust to the players' strengths, so we can showcase to the next level what these kids are really capable of.

Size is certainly important, but talent is needed too. We agree on that. We have also had big players who played small..

I was heartened by herbst20's comment in post 544, perhaps Jerry will fulfill what you said.

I always felt that hockey was sometimes a bit like dogs fighting. It is not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of fight in the dog that often matters. You are 100% right in that we have had some very well tempered Great Danes out there over the years and not enough Pit Bulls.

Under a coach, a two star can look like a four, a three can look like a five, and a four could look like a one. Although the pre-ranking is nice, I'm waiting for October.
