The gem of the class is Cayden Primeau, who should be able to step in and challenge Ruck in net immediately. I for one think he should take the job by storm- Ruck is a goaltender with a career SV% just a tick higher than 90%, and this year he is sub 90% in all categories of SV% breakdown except for against non-NCAA teams from last year. Primeau should be able to be a 4 year starter for Northeastern.

The only defenseman we project to arrive next year is Darren Rizzolo, who is currently in the BCHL with a 1-5-6 line in 30 games for 2 teams. Other possibilities to arrive are AJ Villela ('98) who is in the USHL but not seeing much game time (17 games so far, 2-4-6 line), and Collin Murphy ('98, 2-9-11 in 30 USPHL games). Barring any early departures we will have 8 defensemen on the roster next year, so I do not expect many new ones to come in next season.

Forward is much more dicey. We stand to lose 3 of our 4 centers, possibly all 4 if Gaudette jumps. Sikura and Stevens are also possible flight risks. Those three plus JStevens and ZAR leaving would leave NU without their most prolific scorers from this year plus significant depth. The best forward coming in is Zach Solow, who has an 8-17-25 line in 25 USHL games for Dubuque. Brandon Schultz is an over-ager who has 16 points in 25 games. Depth forwards include Eetu Selanne and Austin Goldstein. Without any players leaving early NU will have 16 forwards, we project.
We also have Brandon Hawkins a transfer from Bowling Green starting classes in January and eligible some time next season. He was expected to be BG's top scorer this year after two very prolific years.

I'm not sure that NU chooses not to display the Arena's history. I think they would need museum-like space to display all of the accumulated memorabilia and simply don't have it. The lobby is barely adequate for the fans and can't be expanded due to the apartment buildings on Mass Ave. After all, we are a city school and don't have a pasture we can use for expansion.

        From the Aston website:
Solomon, 20, is tied for first in the North American Hockey League’s plus-minus statistic with a +25. He also leads all defensemen in the league as well as the Rebels in that category. The 6’1”, 180 lb Salt Lake, UT native is currently ninth on the team with 16 points (6 goals and 10 assists). The left-handed shot Solomon is a superior skater and passer.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend and play hockey at such a prestigious school like Northeastern” stated Solomon. “I fell in love with the culture of the campus and the city, and I cannot picture a better fit for the next four years. I would like to thank all my family, friends and organizations who have helped make my dreams come true. I would like to express a special thank you to coach Coombs and the Aston Rebels” concluded Solomon.

“I couldn’t be happier for Ryan” stated Rebels head coach Joe Coombs. “His junior hockey career started slowly. When he came to the Rebels he worked extremely hard on and off the ice. He bought into our system and he has flourished ever since. He is the epitome of an Aston Rebels. This commitment is well deserved. Northeastern is getting a fine hockey player but an even better person” concluded Coombs.

Why can't they decorate the walls of the building? The walls of the lobby, the walls of the concourse (both upper and lower bowls), the walls behind the DogHouse and the other end of the balcony? There is so much unused dead space that can be used without the need to expand. I point again to the Bright-Landry Center at Harvard. Every wall has detail and something on it. Zero walls have something on it at Matthews.

Lawrence Academy '99 F Neil Shea has committed to Northeastern. Former Maine recruit and Marshfield Ram has good vision and hockey IQ.

Have not seen any updated ETA for Nolan beyond that he should be back by the Beanpot. I think his original estimate put him back into game action by end of January. He has been out of a cast for weeks now, so I assume he's in rehab mode.

8-2 victory over Clarkson tonight. ZAR hat trick. Ruck career high in saves. Multiple highlight reel goals, Filipe/Griffin get in on the goal scoring action ending long droughts.

                            • Clarkson really looked off.. or maybe we made them look that way with good forecheck & also got their goalie (s) off their game. They've beaten some decent teams & been close in others.
Huskies took it to them all gm.. sometimes without trying that hard frankly.

                              Nicely done NU.
Did Ruck try to score on himself that one time?..
Also, Filipe hustled though he's got to move the puck on the PP otherwise you have a SHG the other way.

Overeall, nicely done & good way to go into the new yr. Happy & safe New Yr all. Go NU
